What is a remote React JS developer?

Remote React JS Developers are software engineers who specialize in building user interfaces and web applications using the React JavaScript library, while working from locations outside a traditional office environment. They collaborate with teams through online tools to develop, test, and maintain dynamic, responsive web applications. Their responsibilities include writing clean, efficient code, integrating APIs, and ensuring applications run smoothly across different devices. Remote work allows these developers to contribute to projects from anywhere, offering flexibility to both employers and employees.

How does a remote React JS developer typically collaborate with team members and manage project tasks?

As a Remote React JS Developer, effective collaboration is usually achieved through daily stand-ups, regular video meetings, and the use of project management tools like Jira or Trello. Developers often communicate via Slack or email to stay aligned on priorities and resolve blockers quickly. Code is typically reviewed and managed using platforms such as GitHub or GitLab, ensuring code quality and consistency. Close coordination with UI/UX designers, backend developers, and QA testers is common, making strong communication skills essential for delivering seamless, user-friendly applications.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote React JS developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote React JS Developer, you need strong proficiency in JavaScript, React.js, front-end development, and a solid understanding of web technologies, typically supported by a degree in computer science or relevant experience. Familiarity with tools such as Git, npm, RESTful APIs, and state management libraries like Redux is essential, and certifications in JavaScript frameworks can be beneficial. Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving abilities are vital soft skills for effective collaboration and independent work in a remote setting. These combined competencies ensure high-quality, maintainable code and successful project delivery while working remotely within distributed teams.

Job description

Position - SAP Commerce Cloud/Hybris Developer
Location - Grand Rapids, MI (Remote)

Let’s create our future together at The AES Group!

About The AES Group:
The AES Group is a premier technology and engineering consulting company that has been bringing businesses and talent together for over 20 years to deliver innovative solutions that have the greatest positive impact on society. AES has helped over 40 business enterprises, including Fortune 500 companies, engage their customers, empower their employees, and transform their business operations with the power of cloud, data, AI, engineering, and other emerging technologies.
Why This Role Stands Out

  • Work on the modernization of a large-scale SAP Commerce Cloud platform.
  • Build resilient, long-running business workflows designed for real-world production failures.
  • Apply AI-assisted engineering and context engineering to accelerate software delivery.
  • Work with modern technologies including Java, Spring, Kafka, React.js, and durable orchestration platforms.
  • Solve challenging problems involving distributed systems, workflow reliability, performance, and production operations.

About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to modernize a large SAP Commerce Cloud platform through hands-on software engineering, AI-assisted development, context engineering, and durable workflow orchestration.

This is an engineering-focused position, not an AI strategy or prompt-engineering role. The ideal candidate has strong experience building distributed production systems and understands how to design business processes that remain reliable across service failures, deployments, retries, dependency outages, and long execution periods.

Experience with Temporal, Cadence, Azure Durable Functions, AWS Step Functions, Conductor, or a comparable durable orchestration platform is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and support SAP Commerce Cloud capabilities using Java, Spring, and Hybris.
  • Build integrations using OCC, REST APIs, Kafka, databases, and external services.
  • Design durable workflows for cart processing, order orchestration, inventory updates, recovery operations, and other long-running commerce processes.
  • Separate deterministic workflow orchestration from side-effecting activities.
  • Implement durable state, event-history replay, retries, backoff, idempotency, timeouts, timers, cancellation, compensation, and business rollback.
  • Support signals, asynchronous events, external callbacks, human-in-the-loop processing, workflow queries, and operational visibility.
  • Establish meaningful workflow identifiers, task queues, concurrency controls, rate limits, and lifecycle strategies.
  • Safely evolve production workflows through versioning and backward-compatible changes.
  • Prevent unbounded workflow histories through appropriate continuation and lifecycle management.
  • Develop automated workflow, activity, replay, integration, and failure-path tests.
  • Integrate durable workflows with SAP Commerce, Kafka, APIs, databases, and third-party services.
  • Apply AI-assisted engineering and context engineering to code discovery, implementation, testing, documentation, incident analysis, and release validation.
  • Build reusable AI instructions, agent skills, MCP integrations, repository context, and verification guardrails.
  • Diagnose SAP Commerce performance issues involving FlexibleSearch, persistence, caching, TaskEngine, Kafka consumers, and database contention.

Required Qualifications

Domain

  • Senior-level experience delivering distributed, production-grade software systems.
  • Strong SAP Commerce Cloud/Hybris or comparable commerce-platform development experience.
  • Experience designing event-driven, resilient business processes.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Java and Spring development expertise.
  • Experience with React.js and modern JavaScript or TypeScript.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one durable orchestration platform such as Temporal, Cadence, Azure Durable Functions, AWS Step Functions, or Conductor.
  • Strong understanding of workflow determinism, replay, activities, at-least-once execution, idempotency, retries, compensation/Saga patterns, durable timers, asynchronous events, and workflow versioning.
  • Experience with Kafka or comparable messaging technologies.
  • Strong automated testing, debugging, performance analysis, and production-support capabilities.

AI-Assisted Engineering

  • Demonstrated use of AI coding assistants or agentic engineering tools for substantive software development.
  • Practical understanding of context engineering, including providing AI systems with relevant domain knowledge, tools, instructions, examples, repository context, and validation mechanisms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Temporal Java SDK and production Temporal experience.
  • Experience operating Temporal workers, task queues, namespaces, schedules, search attributes, signals, queries, and updates.
  • Experience with workflow replay testing and safely evolving active workflows.
  • Knowledge of Protobuf, schema evolution, and backward-compatible contracts.
  • Experience with SAP Commerce 2211, Java 21, and Spring 6.
  • Familiarity with OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, Kubernetes, Azure, and centralized logging.
  • Experience building AI agents, MCP servers, reusable agent skills, or retrieval-augmented development systems.

What Success Looks Like

  • Commerce processes remain reliable through deployments, outages, retries, and transient dependency failures.
  • Workflow retries do not create duplicate payments, orders, inventory updates, or external requests.
  • Long-running processes are observable, queryable, testable, and recoverable.
  • Production workflows evolve safely without replay failures or disruption to in-flight executions.
  • AI-assisted engineering improves delivery speed while maintaining testing, code review, quality, and human accountability.
  • SAP Commerce performance improves while operational toil and release risk decrease over time.
