Metro West Behavioral Health Center is seeking a dedicated and licensed mental health counselor to join our team on a full-time basis in a remote capacity. This position requires conducting thorough assessments, crafting individualized treatment plans, and leading both individual and group therapy sessions, all while adhering to best practices and ethical guidelines in mental health counseling.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conducting comprehensive preliminary interviews to gather detailed histories and document all relevant information from the initial consultation to the conclusion of treatment.
  • Evaluating clients' mental, behavioral, and emotional health through various assessment tools and interviews, enabling tailored treatment strategies.
  • Developing personalized intervention and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families, and groups, factoring in unique cultural backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Facilitating engaging individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based psychotherapy techniques that promote healing and growth.
  • Monitoring and documenting client progress throughout their treatment plans, adjusting strategies as necessary to meet evolving needs.
  • Collaborating closely with a multidisciplinary team of mental health specialists, including psychiatrists, nurses, and social workers, on comprehensive care plans for shared clients.
  • Providing follow-up communication with psychiatric professionals regarding clients admitted to hospitals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Identifying potential barriers to recovery, proactively addressing concerns that may hinder clients' progress.
  • Educating and supporting family members and primary caregivers on managing mental and behavioral challenges, facilitating a network of support for clients.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will work with a diverse clientele, ranging from children to adults, each facing various mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and more complex conditions. Our client population reflects the vibrant community of Chicago, and you will engage with individuals from various cultural backgrounds. You will play a pivotal role in addressing their unique needs and assisting them in navigating their mental health journeys.

Qualifications
  • A Master's or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Active and valid licensure as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the state of Illinois.
  • A passing score on the National Counselor Examination (NCE) and/or the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination (NCMHCE).
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in a mental health counseling role, showcasing the ability to handle a variety of cases.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems such as AVATAR for effective case management and documentation.
  • Familiarity with underlying physical and emotional health issues, as well as experience in addressing addiction disorders.
  • Knowledge of the best practices as established by the American Mental Health Counselors Association (AMHCA).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on creating empathetic client interactions.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills coupled with a sympathetic and approachable demeanor.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience with evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or mindfulness techniques.
  • Previous experience in a community health or clinical setting, particularly in a remote role.
  • Understanding of chronic health conditions and their psychological impact.
Compensation and Benefits
