Job Title: Profee Cardiovascular Surgery Coder (Contract-to-Hire)

Location (City, State): Hybrid – Savannah, GA (Remote flexibility after training; must be able to work onsite during training and weekly onsite requirements)

Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Profee Cardiovascular Surgery Coder to join their team on a contract-to-hire basis. This role will focus on professional fee coding for cardiovascular surgery cases, hospital rounding encounters, and occasional interventional radiology (IR) and office visit coding. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented coder who can work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.

This position requires initial onsite training in Savannah, GA, followed by a hybrid schedule with weekly onsite requirements based on specialty team needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform professional fee coding for cardiovascular and cardiology services.
  • Code hospital rounding encounters and cardiovascular surgery cases.
  • Assist with interventional radiology and office visit coding as needed.
  • Assign accurate CPT, ICD-10-CM, and other required codes based on documentation.
  • Maintain coding accuracy and productivity standards.
  • Utilize coding resources independently (encoder not provided; candidate may use personal resources or client can provide access to Codify).
  • Collaborate with coding leadership and team members through Jabber and other communication platforms.
  • Meet productivity expectations of approximately 9 charts per hour with 90% accuracy.
  • Participate in training with management, supervisors, and team members to learn workflows and expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Fee coding experience required.
  • Experience with cardiovascular/cardiology coding preferred.
  • Experience with cardiovascular surgery coding strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of hospital rounding and/or interventional radiology coding is a plus.
  • Certification accepted from:
    • AAPC
    • AHIMA
  • Strong understanding of coding guidelines and documentation requirements.
  • Must be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently.

Additional Details:

  • Contract-to-Hire opportunity.
  • Full-time schedule (40 hours/week).
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday; start time between 6:00 AM-8:30 AM EST with an 8-hour shift.
  • Must work the same schedule as the team.
  • Initial onsite training:
    • First week onsite in Savannah, GA.
    • After training, onsite approximately one day per week based on specialty team needs.
  • Client provides computer equipment.
  • Systems utilized:
    • Allscripts
    • Meditech
  • Communication platform: Jabber.
  • Training provided by manager, supervisor, and team members.
  • Metrics:
    • 9 charts/hour
    • 90% accuracy
