Job description

Senior Technical Specialist
Location - CA Remote (Los Angeles Metro Area)

The Senior Technical Specialist will support our demand-side management teams on the delivery of energy efficiency and electrification programs in Southern California. The Senior Technical Specialist will work closely with a cross-functional team including program implementation, operations, IT, engineering, and reporting personnel. This position will actively participate in client and management level reporting, including leading presentations to clients and management. The position also supports the more detailed CPUC reporting requirements as directed by program and/or engineering groups and is critical in assisting the administration of energy efficiency and electrification programs.

What you will do:

  • Develop common reporting templates that leverage varying data to create uniform results for regular and ad hoc reporting needs
  • Collect energy efficiency / electrification reporting and KPI data from multiple stakeholders in varying formats
  • Compile data into common reporting templates
  • Present formal reports to internal and client facing senior management
  • Track and support recurring energy measure calculation updates
  • Help maintain program databases, incorporating fixes and enhancements and performing periodic reviews for data consistency and accuracy
  • Review reports and presentations by third parties
  • Assist with the interpretation and implementation of client and regulatory guidance related to reporting
  • Contribute to and coordinate responses to data requests from third-party evaluators and support internal data requests
  • Work with other stakeholders to support CPUC level reporting including compiling data, generating reports and submitting the reports
  • Travel Requirements: Minimal travel in the Los Angeles, CA metro area up to 10% of the time for meetings and events


What we need you to have (minimum qualifications):

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Computer Science, Statistics, Business Administration, Economics, Energy, Environmental Studies or related subjects (or applicants can substitute one year of related experience for one year of education)
  • 5+ years of experience working in energy, sustainability, project reporting and/or related experience
  • 3 + years of experience compiling and presenting DSM program tracking and KPI data to senior management

What we would like you to have (preferred skills):

  • Master's Degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, Computer Science, Statistics, MBA, Economics, Energy, Environmental Studies or related subjects
  • Experience in the utility or energy industry and knowledge of energy efficiency measures and technology
  • Understanding of programs promoting Demand Side Management, Energy Efficiency, Electrification and Demand Response
  • Knowledge of sustainable building practices and technologies
  • Demonstrated familiarity with California deemed and custom project requirements.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with CEDARS reporting system
  • Demonstrated familiarity developing and writing code with scripting and programming languages such as Python, VBA, R, and /or SQL
  • Familiarity with using the eTRM or other TRMs.
  • Experience creating Power BI dashboards and/or developing advanced MS Excel workbooks using macros, VBA code and complex data structures to generate reports.
