Group Management Services (GMS) is seeking to hire a full time Member Benefits Specialist with excellent customer service skills.


What does a Member Benefits Specialist do?


In summary, the Member Benefits Specialist is responsible for interacting with members over the phone to provide information in response to inquiries about their services and handle and resolve complaints.


A few of the essential duties and responsibilities: 

  • Answer calls and/or correspondence (emails) from members, client, & providers
  • Review Health Benefit plans to accurately quote to members / providers and use that information to answer questions
  • Communicate details and resolve issues with members
  • Enter pre-claim information and attach scanned documents
  • Work with manager on difficult situations to ensure quick resolution
  • Assist with training new member benefits specialists as needed
  • Open, sort, scan mail; sort faxes
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Qualifications we look for:

  • Education - High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience - 1-3 years related experience preferred; experience in a TPA environment preferred
  • Ability to read and understand various benefit forms, documentation, files and information in the department
  • Understanding of medical terminology.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
