Remote Quantum Cryptography Jobs in Massachusetts

Remote Quantum Cryptography information

What is remote quantum cryptography?

Remote quantum cryptography refers to the use of quantum mechanics principles to secure communications between parties located in different places, often over the internet or long distances. This approach leverages quantum key distribution (QKD), which ensures that encryption keys are exchanged in a way that is theoretically immune to eavesdropping. Remote quantum cryptography is considered highly secure because any attempt to intercept or measure the quantum keys disturbs them, alerting the communicating parties to potential security breaches. It is increasingly being explored for applications in finance, government, and other sectors requiring advanced data protection.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote quantum cryptography specialist?

To thrive as a Remote Quantum Cryptography Specialist, you need a solid background in quantum mechanics, cryptography, and computer science, often supported by an advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in physics, mathematics, or a related field. Familiarity with quantum key distribution protocols, programming languages such as Python or C++, and experience with quantum computing frameworks like Qiskit or Cirq are typically required. Strong problem-solving abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and effective remote communication are crucial soft skills for excelling in this role. These skills are vital for developing secure quantum communication systems and collaborating with distributed teams to protect data against emerging cyber threats.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in remote quantum cryptography roles, and how can they be addressed?

Remote quantum cryptography professionals often encounter challenges such as staying current with rapidly evolving quantum technologies, ensuring secure communication over distributed networks, and collaborating effectively with interdisciplinary teams. To address these, it's important to engage in continuous learning through industry publications and training, utilize secure and robust remote collaboration tools, and participate in regular virtual meetings to align with team objectives. Building a strong network with peers and mentors can also help in navigating technical complexities and staying informed about the latest advancements.

What is the difference between Remote Quantum Cryptography vs Remote Cybersecurity Specialist?

  • Speed: We act with urgency, focus, and follow-through to deliver results fast.
  • Precision: We bring accuracy, consistency, and care to everything we do.

Role Overview

The Solutions Engineer (SE) is a technical sales partner embedded within AppViewX's North American Commercial segment. In this role, you will support the end-to-end technical sales motion for mid-market and growth accounts across the assigned territory- running discovery conversations, delivering tailored demos, supporting POC deployments, and contributing to RFP responses alongside senior SEs and Commercial Account Executives.

This is a growth role with a clear, structured career path into senior individual contributor and management tracks. You will be supported by senior SEs and the VP of Solutions Engineering, with dedicated onboarding, AppViewX Academy lab access, and mentorship from day one.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Sales Technical Execution

  • Participate in and progressively lead discovery calls, tailored demo presentations, and architecture discussions aligned to customer environments and use cases.
  • Support and co-own POC and POV engagements: assist with technical prerequisites, environment setup, integration configuration, and success criteria validation.
  • Contribute to RFP, RFI, and security questionnaire responses with accurate, well-structured technical content.
  • Develop solution architecture documentation, integration summaries, and technical proposals under senior SE guidance.

Pipeline & Revenue Support

  • Partner with Commercial AEs to advance pipeline across a defined territory.
  • Assist with technical qualification of inbound opportunities to accelerate deal velocity and reduce downstream POC risk.
  • Participate in territory planning and QBR preparation, tracking your technical contribution to pipeline and closed revenue.

Customer & Partner Engagement

  • Engage mid-market prospects (500+ employees, 1,000+ certificates) across the assigned territory with consultative, value-based technical conversations.
  • Support partner-led deals and channel enablement sessions alongside senior SEs.
  • Represent AppViewX at regional industry events, partner summits, and customer briefings.

Continuous Growth

  • Complete AppViewX Academy curriculum and obtain SE certification across CLM, PKI, and at least one additional product line within your first 90 days.
  • Contribute to the SE team's shared knowledge base, POC playbooks, and RFP libraries.
  • Actively develop technical depth in post-quantum cryptography fundamentals: ML-KEM, ML-DSA, FIPS 204, and the Harvest-Now-Decrypt-Later threat model.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience in a Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, Pre-Sales, or technical customer-facing role within enterprise software in cybersecurity in Identity.
  • Working knowledge of PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), Certificate Lifecycle Management (CLM), or cryptographic key management concepts.
  • Hands-on familiarity with at least one cloud platform: AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical practitioners and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent POC/POV engagements with guidance.
  • Strong written communication skills for RFP responses, architecture documentation, and customer proposals.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to competitive CLM/PKI platforms: Venafi, Keyfactor, DigiCert, Sectigo, or Entrust.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft ADCS, EJBCA, or commercial CA integrations.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes and containerized environments (cert-manager, OpenShift).
  • Interest or coursework in post-quantum cryptography standards (ML-KEM / CRYSTALS-Kyber, ML-DSA / CRYSTALS-Dilithium, FIPS 203/204/205).
  • Basic scripting ability in Bash, PowerShell, or Python for demo automation and POC support.
  • Familiarity with certificate automation protocols: ACME, SCEP, EST.
  • Relevant certifications: Security+, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, or similar entry-level security credentials.
  • Familiarity with NIST, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or SOC 2 compliance frameworks.

What We Offer

  • Competitive base salary, OTE-eligible variable compensation.
  • Structured onboarding: AppViewX Academy, hands-on lab environments, SE mentorship program, and dedicated certification support.
  • Collaborative, high-growth SE team with global visibility across NA, EMEA, and APAC.
  • Opportunity to build deep expertise at the frontier of machine identity, PQC, and agentic identity security.
