Koniag Government Services is seeking an experienced Data Analyst I to provide critical analytical support for the administration of federal grants supporting early childhood education programs nationwide. This position will support approximately 1,900 grants,ย deliverย data-driven insights that promote evidence-based decision-making, improve grant management processes, and enhance program effectiveness. The ideal candidate willย possessย strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, experience with statistical analysis tools, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations for federal staff and program leadership. This position requires on-site work at Regional Office locations with telework available upon approval.ย 

The Data Analyst I will serve as a key analytical resource supporting federal grant administration for early childhood education programs. This role combines quantitative statistical analysis with qualitative review ofย programย documents to drive programmatic improvements and support federal decision-making. Principal responsibilities will include,ย but are not limited to:ย 

Quantitative Analysis:ย 

  • Compile, prepare, and analyze quantitative data using Excel, Python, R, and other analytical toolsย 
  • Conduct basic and complex statistical analyses toย identifyย trends, patterns, and insights across grant programsย 
  • Perform longitudinal data analysis, including Program Information Report (PIR) analysisย 
  • Generate crosstabs, detailed analytical tables, and comparative assessments across programs and regionsย 
  • Identifyย and resolve reporting anomalies and data quality issuesย 
  • Support congressional reporting and other high-priority data requestsย 
  • Work with data layers and reporting infrastructure to deliver analytical findingsย 

Qualitative Analysis:ย 

  • Conduct qualitative analysis of grant applications, budgets, intake forms, correspondence, and other documentsย 
  • Review documentation toย identifyย errors, missing information, orย requiredย follow-up actionsย 
  • Identifyย themes and patterns in textual dataย 
  • Leverage approved AI tools appropriately while adhering to federal policiesย 
  • Synthesize qualitative findings into actionable recommendationsย 

Reporting and Communication:ย 

  • Develop high-quality written reports explaining data compilation and analysis resultsย 
  • Prepare management information reports onย aย periodic, cyclical, or ad-hoc basisย 
  • Create data-driven presentations for management meetings, conferences, and leadership briefingsย 
  • Design and deliver oral presentations with supporting materialsย 
  • Develop compelling data stories that communicate insights to diverse audiencesย 
  • Produce executive summaries and briefing materials for leadershipย 
  • Writeย analytical reports for congressional reporting and present insightsย toย technical and non-technical stakeholdersย 

Education and Experience:ย 

Required:ย 

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, or a related field from an accredited college or universityย 
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant post-baccalaureate professional experienceย directly relatedย to data analysisย 
  • U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United Statesย 
  • Ability to pass background investigations asย requiredย for access to federal facilities and systemsย

  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills withย demonstratedย ability to conduct both quantitative and qualitative analysisย
