Remote Tax Advisor needed at a progressive CPA firm growing around proactive tax advisory rather than volume-based compliance. The client niche is focused on strategic business groups, growth-stage entrepreneurs, and HNWIs and families. The team leverages cloud technology and a high-touch service model.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Advisory & Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary advisor for a portfolio of entrepreneurial and high-income clients, leading quarterly advisory meetings and delivering proactive tax planning.
  • Lead quarterly client advisory meetings to review financials, projections, and tax strategies
  • Translate complex tax concepts into clear, actionable guidance for business owners.
  • Ensure the final result by leading tax preparation for your portfolio of clients
  • Proactively identify planning opportunities based on changes in client circumstances and tax law
  • Support the development of junior staff by exposing them to advisory work and client interactions

Tax Strategy & Planning

  • Develop, maintain, and update customized tax plans for clients
  • Work with your team to implement tax strategies efficiently and ensure compliance aligns with the client's overall financial goals
  • Deliver timely year-end tax planning to maximize tax savings and minimize surprises
  • Understand and apply tax strategies across different client profiles, including small business owners and high-net-worth individuals

Tax Oversight & Quality Control

  • Lead a dedicated client service team of 2-4 tax professionals, coordinating workflow, mentoring staff, and ensuring high-quality deliverables. Managing team capacity, workflow, and deadlines.
  • Review and finalize tax returns, projections, and advisory deliverables for accuracy and quality
  • Ensure tax filings reflect the client's defined goals for financial and advisory strategy
Qualifications
  • CPA or Enrolled Agents licensure REQUIRED 
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • 7+ years of advisory experience and tax preparation in public accounting
  • Recent public accounting experience required
  • Strong foundation in individual and small business taxation
  • Experience in tax planning and advisory work
  • Comfortable leading client conversations and presenting strategic recommendations
  • Strong communication skills and client presence
  • Ability to balance technical accuracy with practical, business-focused advice
  • Skilled in developing long-term client relationships
