Xcelerate Solutions is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer / Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, security, and performance of mission-critical software systems supporting Department of Defense (DoD) program in a DevSecOps environment. This role will be developing and executing automated testing solutions that support continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD), and secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) practices.

The candidate will collaborate with software engineers, systems engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and stakeholders to verify that software releases meet functional, performance, security, and compliance requirements prior to deployment.  Come join our award-winning organization and work with some of the most talented and brightest minds in the GovCon industry.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) authority for software products and releases.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute automated test frameworks supporting web, API, and microservices-based applications.
  • Manage and execute automated test suites environments.
  • Design and implement automated unit, integration, regression, end-to-end, and performance test suites.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and automated quality gates.
  • Validate software compliance with DoD, program, and cybersecurity requirements.
  • Collaborate with development teams to establish test strategies and ensure comprehensive requirements, traceability and test coverage.
  • Identify, document, track, and verify resolution of software defects.
  • Support software release readiness reviews and production deployment activities.
  • Generate test plans, test procedures, test reports, and quality metrics for the customer and program leadership.
  • Participate in Agile meetings, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, and retrospectives.
  • Support accreditation, cybersecurity assessments, and Authority to Operate (ATO) activities by validating security controls and documenting test evidence.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on test automation, quality engineering, and DevSecOps maturity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field or qualified experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in software quality assurance, test engineering, or software development engineering in test (SDET) roles.
  • Experience developing automated tests using Selenium or similar automation frameworks.
  • Experience with:
    • End-to-End (E2E) Testing
    • Integration Testing
    • Unit Testing
    • Experience working within Agile and DevSecOps environments.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with source control systems such as Git.
  • Strong reporting and documentation capabilities.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred experience supporting Department of Defense or federal government programs.
  • Experience testing cloud-native applications hosted in AWS GovCloud, or similar environments.
  • Familiarity with automated security testing and DevSecOps toolchains.
  • Experience with JIRA, Selenium, SharePoint, and enterprise test management tools.

Certifications

  • CompTIA Security required
  • ISTQB Certified Tester preferred
  • SAFe Agilist (SA) preferred
  • DevSecOps Foundation or equivalent preferred

Security Requirements

  • Active DoD Secret clearance required; DoD Top Secret clearance preferred.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required program access authorizations.
  • Must comply with all applicable DoD cybersecurity, information assurance, and security policies.
