What are Remote Python jobs?

Remote Python jobs are positions where you work primarily with the Python programming language but do so from a location outside of a traditional office, such as your home or another remote location. These jobs can include roles like software developer, data analyst, backend engineer, or machine learning engineer, all of which use Python for building applications, analyzing data, or automating tasks. Remote Python jobs are popular due to Python's versatility and the growing demand for flexible work arrangements in the tech industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Python Developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Python Developer, you need strong programming skills in Python, experience with software development life cycles, and a relevant degree or professional experience. Familiarity with tools like Git, Docker, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), and frameworks such as Django or Flask is typically required, along with knowledge of remote collaboration tools like Slack and Jira. Excellent problem-solving abilities, self-motivation, and effective communication are crucial soft skills for remote team integration and project delivery. These skills ensure efficient, high-quality code development, seamless teamwork, and the ability to meet project goals independently in a remote environment.

What Are Remote Jobs That Use Python?

Remote jobs that use Python focus on coding software and applications to meet the needs or business objectives of your employer. This may involve working with a database, customizing an existing application, or otherwise modifying software based on its expected environment. You can also find a few remote roles that allow you to teach Python instead of using it. Many remote jobs that use Python also involve coding in other common languages as necessary—Python may be the bulk of the work, but the ability to switch to other modes of programming as needed is essential for success in this field. As a remote employee or independent contractor, you may use virtual office software to coordinate with others, upload software into a central database for testing, or work odd hours to meet the needs of your client.

Job description

Calling your doctor shouldn't be harder than seeing your doctor. But at most practices, patients wait on hold, front-office staff drown in ring queues, and revenue walks out the door with every missed call.
Transform9 builds AI agents that answer every call for physician practices - scheduling appointments, routing callers, and resolving routine requests in seconds, around the clock. Our agents integrate directly with each practice's EHR, practice management, and phone systems, and adapt to how their front office actually works.
Our agents have handled millions of patient calls for thousands of providers, cut average hold times by 90%, and decreased call abandonment by 80%. We're headquartered in Birmingham, AL, and growing fast.
About the role
Our agents are only as good as their connection to the practice's systems. You'll design and build the integrations that let our platform read schedules, book appointments, and exchange data with EHRs, practice management systems, and telephony - reliably, at scale, and compliantly. This is high-leverage work: every integration you ship unlocks a category of practices we can serve.
What you'll do
  • Build and maintain integrations with EHR/PM systems - Epic, Oracle Health (Cerner), athenahealth, NextGen, and more - plus telephony/SIP and CRM systems
  • Develop API, HL7, and FHIR interfaces and keep them healthy in production
  • Lead integration discovery and design directly with client IT teams
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production interface issues fast
  • Uphold data security, privacy, and HIPAA compliance across every integration
  • Document APIs, workflows, and runbooks for internal teams and clients
Location
Remote (US). If you're in the Birmingham, AL area, this role is hybrid from our office (3 days in office / 2 remote).
Requirements
  • 5+ years in integration or interoperability engineering
  • Hands-on API, HL7, and FHIR experience with major EHR/PM systems
  • Strong programming skills in Python, Java, or TypeScript
  • Working knowledge of healthcare data security and compliance requirements
  • Strong client-facing communication - you'll work directly with practice IT teams
Nice to have
  • Telephony/SIP/CCaaS integration experience
  • Experience at a healthcare AI or digital health company

Benefits
  • Top-tier health coverage: medical, dental & vision
  • 401(k)
  • Paid time off + holidays, and paid parental leave

If you want to fix the front door of healthcare, we'd love to hear from you.
