Summary: We are seeking a highly analytical and technically skilled Data Scientist to design, develop, and optimize machine learning models and data pipelines within an AWS environment. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering, machine learning, and UX/UI development and will play a critical role in transforming datasets (including image data) into actionable insights and scalable solutions.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines in AWS (S3, Lambda, Glue, Redshift, SageMaker).
  • Develop, train and deploy machine learning models including image recognition/computer vision algorithms.
  • Identify, evaluate and integrate diverse data sources (structured and unstructured) to support model development.
  • Perform data exploration, cleansing, featuring engineering and statistical analysis to improve model performance.
  • Lead model validation, testing and performance monitoring to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Partner with UI/UX and software development teams to translate data outputs into intuitive, user-facing applications.
  • Serve as a bridge between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure solutions align with operational needs.
  • Drive continuous system enhancements, including automation, optimization, and scalability improvements.
  • Establish best practices for data governance, quality and security within AWS environments.
  • Document models, processes and system architecture for internal and external stakeholders.
  • May perform other duties as assigned to support department goals.
  • May occasionally work extended hours based on operational needs.
Experience and Skills:
  • Analytical problem-solving with a strong attention to detail.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in machine learning or a related role.
  • Hands-on experience building data pipelines and working withing AWS ecosystems.
  • Strong programming skills in Python with experience in libraries.
  • Experience with computer vision and image recognition models.
  • Solid understanding of data modeling, statistical analysis and machine learning techniques.
  • Experience working in both structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Work Schedule:
This is a 100% office position requiring your physical presence at our office in San Diego, California, on Monday through Friday, with business hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Salary Range:
The salary for this position typically ranges from $30-$35 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience, and other factors. Please note that the final offer may differ based on the candidate's specific qualifications, skills, and experience, as well as internal equity and business needs.
