Job description

Automation Engineer

About the Role:

Visory is seeking an Automation Engineer to design, build, and maintain the systems that power our managed services operations. In this hands-on engineering role, you'll develop production-grade automations and integrations across PSA, RMM, documentation, identity, and AI platforms to create scalable workflows across hundreds of client tenants.

You'll work closely with the Director of Automation & AI to take ideas from concept to production while contributing to the evolution of Visory's automation and AI capabilities. This position is being offered in a hybrid schedule based 2-3 days in our office in Phoenix, Arizona.

What You Will Be DOING:

  • Automation Development & Integration: Design and build automated workflows using Rewst, Azure Functions, and serverless integrations with Python, PowerShell, and TypeScript. Integrate platforms such as ConnectWise Manage, Microsoft Graph, IT Glue, NinjaRMM, Pax8, SentinelOne, and other MSP tools through APIs.
  • Platform Engineering & Internal Tooling: Contribute to internal Node.js services, dashboards, and web tooling that support automation visibility, monitoring, and operational scalability. Build reusable functions and shared logic for cross-platform workflows.
  • AI & Intelligent Automation: Support the development of AI-powered features including RAG over documentation, AI-assisted ticket triage, document processing, and natural language or voice interfaces. Use AI responsibly within daily engineering workflows and production systems.
  • Testing, Monitoring & Support: Test, monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain automation solutions in production environments, ensuring reliability, scalability, and operational stability.
  • Strategy & Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with stakeholders across the business to identify high-value manual processes and prioritize automation initiatives based on business impact and technical feasibility.
  • Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain clear documentation for automations, integrations, assumptions, decisions, and operational procedures to support scalability and knowledge transfer.

What You Will NEED/LEARN:

We don't expect anyone to walk in with all of this. Strong fundamentals plus a genuine curiosity about the rest is the bar and what we are mainly looking for!

  • Development & Automation Experience: 3+ years building automations, integrations, or backend services with strong skills in Python, PowerShell, or TypeScript. Experience designing scalable workflows and integrating systems through APIs.
  • API & Cloud Knowledge: Comfortable working with REST/JSON APIs, including authentication, pagination, and error handling. Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, with willingness to expand Azure expertise.
  • Version Control & Engineering Practices: Proficiency with Git, GitHub, or Azure DevOps, including branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews. Strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code and engineering best practices (Bicep, ARM, Terraform).
  • Automation & MSP Tooling: Familiarity with platforms such as Rewst, ConnectWise Manage, IT Glue, NinjaRMM, Pax8, Microsoft Graph, Entra ID, or related MSP technologies preferred.
  • AI & Modern Platform Exposure: Interest or experience with AI-powered systems, LLM-backed features, RAG workflows, prompt engineering, Azure AI Search, or related technologies preferred.
  • Communication & Work Style: Strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to explain technical decisions clearly, and a collaborative, growth-oriented mindset with curiosity and adaptability.
  • Work Environment & Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

What You GET:

  • Growth & Technical Development: Opportunity to grow into platform engineering and applied AI work with hands-on exposure to Azure infrastructure, Bicep, LLM integrations, multi-tenant systems, and advanced automation tooling.
  • Ownership & Impact: Direct collaboration with the Director of Automation & AI and the ability to take automation initiatives from concept to production in a highly visible engineering role.
  • Flexible Work Environment: Phoenix-based hybrid environment preferred, with fully remote options considered for the right candidate.
