Job description

Remote - US & Canada

thatgamecompany is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to support our flagship title Sky: Children of the Light, by developing applications to facilitate game operation functions. Our internally-developed applications are a fundamental capability enabling our company to live-operate Sky: Children of Light with millions of active users generating terabytes of data per day.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will report to the Lead Software Engineer, developing software for applications that support internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

  • Identify issues and create solutions independently, understanding how to complete a task from start to finish

  • Participate in brainstorming sessions to design and document features with scalability in mind

  • Build backend API and frontend components and pages with strong knowledge of Node JS, Next JS, and SQL

  • Meet with individual team members and the full ITS team weekly to discuss progress and ideas

  • Interact with different departments of the company to discover and address problems and needs

  • Contribute to thatgamecompany’s unique culture and vision

Key QualificationsProfessional Experience
  • 4+ years of professional programming experience

  • Experience building modern REST APIs in Node.js

  • Experience with writing Typescript packages

  • Experience using modern front-end Javascript frameworks (e.g., React, Next, Hooks)

  • Experience designing data structures and querying relational and non-relational database technologies such as Postgresql, Redis, MongoDB, etc.

  • Experience with Git version control system

  • Experience with cloud service providers such as AWS and Google Cloud

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach to dynamic challenges

The salary range for this position is $95,000 USD to $196,500 USD annually, with the opportunity to earn an annual discretionary bonus. This salary range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the Company’s compensation practices.

Employees in this position are eligible to participate in the Company’s standard employee benefit programs, which currently include the following: medical, dental, vision, 401k, and paid time off.

Our base pay is benchmarked against regional market and industry data and is adjusted to reflect the cost of living in your specific geographic area.
