Data Analyst, Mid-level โ€“ DHS

Location: Cobec site/Remote Site/Travel to Client Site in Springfield, VA as needed

Remote Work Option: Yes (Some time in office required)

Function: Data Analysis

Salary Range: $90- $120k

Security Requirements

Must be a US citizen or a legal resident for three of the past five years. Public Trust cannot be granted without meeting the residency requirement. Job Summary

This position will provide experienced cost analysis and estimating support for Department of Homeland Security (DHS) programs.

Years of Relevant Experience

The position requires 3 years of data analysis and model development. DHS experience is desirable, but not required.

Essential Job Functions

The Data Analyst supports operations and conducts data analytics projects to provide information and insights to stakeholders for decision-making or solution development. The individual's activities include but are not limited to:

  • Implement data standards and deploy automation tools to extract, synthesize, and validate data from different sources and transform data into usable metrics.
  • Construct data sets, monitors data quality, troubleshoots and resolves database issues to ensure data integrity
  • Analyze and evaluate network operations efficiencies and security effectiveness, and recommends design changes to improve services to users.
  • Assist with database architecture plans and development.
  • Provide effective verbal and written correspondence, prepare reports and presentations, as required.
  • Utilize scripting and querying tools like Python, R or SQL, data visualization/BI tools, statistical methods, and data modeling to produce reports, data files, and dashboards Tableau experience is required.
Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related fields required. Graduate and Post Graduate degrees are a plus and may substitute for years of experience.

Skills Requirements
  • Demonstrated capability to work both independently and under the direction of experienced analysts.
  • Demonstrated skill in defining, developing, and maintaining databases and working with spreadsheets and complex data models.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic work environment and ability to coordinate and perform multiple assignments.
  • Possession of a government or industry standard data science certification is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated skill in creating and maintaining databases and working with spreadsheets and complex models.
