Remote Pv Designer information

What is a Remote PV Designer?

A Remote PV Designer is a professional who designs photovoltaic (solar power) systems from a remote location, rather than onsite. They use specialized software to create solar panel layouts, electrical diagrams, and system specifications for residential, commercial, or industrial projects. Their role often involves analyzing site data, shading, and energy requirements to optimize system performance, all while collaborating with clients and engineers virtually. This position allows for flexibility and is becoming increasingly common as solar energy adoption grows and remote work tools improve.

What is the difference between Remote Pv Designer vs Remote Level Designer?

AspectRemote Pv DesignerRemote Level Designer
Required SkillsGame mechanics, player engagement, combat systemsLevel layout, environment design, gameplay flow
Work EnvironmentCollaborates with game designers, artists, programmersWorks closely with artists, game designers, and QA teams
Industry UsageCommon in multiplayer and PvP-focused gamesUsed across various genres for level creation

Remote Pv Designers focus on creating engaging player-versus-player mechanics and combat systems, while Remote Level Designers develop the environments and levels where gameplay occurs. Both roles require collaboration with different teams but serve distinct functions in game development.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote PV Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote PV Designer, you need a solid understanding of photovoltaic systems, electrical design principles, and relevant engineering qualifications, often supported by a degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, and familiarity with NEC codes and permitting processes is typically required. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective remote communication skills help distinguish top performers in this role. These competencies ensure accurate, compliant solar designs and seamless collaboration in a distributed work environment.

How do Remote PV Designers typically collaborate with on-site teams during project development?

Remote PV Designers regularly coordinate with on-site engineers, project managers, and installation crews through virtual meetings, shared digital platforms, and cloud-based design tools. Clear communication is crucial, as designers must ensure their plans align with real-world site conditions and evolving project needs. Challenges can include time zone differences and the need for precise documentation, but effective use of collaboration software and well-defined processes help bridge these gaps. This collaborative environment fosters skill development and can open doors to leadership roles or specialized technical paths within solar energy companies.

SENIOR PV & BESS ELECTRICAL ENGINEER
Location: Eden Prairie, MN | Hybrid | Remote
Schedule: Full-Time
Salary: $100,000 - $140,000 (based on experience)

EVS is seeking a Senior PV & BESS Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership on utility-scale solar (PV) and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys owning project design, collaborating directly with clients, and leading engineering teams through the development of high-quality Issue for Construction (IFC) design packages.

You'll play a key role in shaping renewable energy infrastructure by guiding projects from early design concepts through final engineering deliverables.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Technically lead utility-scale PV and BESS projects, establishing the basis of design and defining electrical requirements, layouts, and site constraints.
  • Translate client and project requirements into detailed electrical designs and CAD-based engineering drawings.
  • Coordinate with clients to manage project schedules, track budgets, and ensure successful project delivery.
  • Represent EVS in client meetings, providing technical expertise and guidance on PV and BESS electrical engineering.
  • Develop and oversee Issue for Construction (IFC) electrical plan sets for utility-scale solar and energy storage facilities.
  • Utilize tools such as AutoCAD, wire schedules, Bill of Materials spreadsheets, and PVSyst to support project design.
  • Apply deep knowledge of PV and BESS components including modules, racking, inverters, battery systems, MV cable, and balance-of-system equipment.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable NEC, UL, IEEE, and other industry standards including NEC Articles 110, 690, 706, 300, 240, and 250.
  • Collaborate with power studies engineers to ensure accurate inputs for system analysis and electrical studies.
  • Research emerging renewable energy technologies and apply insights to improve project design and optimization.
  • Lead and mentor engineering team members, supporting technical growth and project execution.
  • Manage team capacity planning and monitor utilization to support consistent project delivery.
  • Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams to align electrical design with civil, structural, and project management requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience working as a Lead Engineer, Project Engineer, or Project Manager in the utility-scale solar or BESS industry.
  • Strong experience producing electrical design packages for utility-scale PV and BESS projects.
  • Expert-level proficiency with AutoCAD and drafting of electrical plans, site plans, and construction details.
  • Deep understanding of PV and BESS balance-of-plant systems and monitoring infrastructure.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals and relevant industry codes and standards.
  • Familiarity with power study tools such as ETAP, AmpCalc, SKM, or CYMCAP is valuable but not required.
  • Experience managing RFIs, progress tracking, and engineering resource planning.
  • Strong client-facing communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly.
  • 2+ years of experience mentoring or leading engineers and designers.
  • NABCEP certification, EIT, or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.

WHY EVS

  • Work at the forefront of renewable energy development supporting large-scale solar and battery storage infrastructure.
  • Lead technically challenging projects that directly contribute to grid modernization and energy transition.
  • Collaborate with a highly skilled, multidisciplinary engineering team focused on innovation and practical design solutions.
  • Take ownership of projects while mentoring engineers and shaping the next generation of renewable energy experts.
  • Join a fast-growing company that values technical leadership, professional growth, and the ability to make a measurable impact.
