Remote Puzzle Designer information

What are remote puzzle designers?

Remote puzzle designers are professionals who create, develop, and test puzzles for games, escape rooms, educational materials, or digital platforms, all while working from a remote location. They use their creativity and problem-solving skills to design engaging and challenging puzzles that appeal to a target audience. Their tasks may include brainstorming new concepts, prototyping puzzles, collaborating with other game developers, and refining puzzles based on user feedback. Working remotely allows them to collaborate with teams or clients across the globe using digital tools. This role requires strong communication abilities, attention to detail, and a passion for puzzles and games.

What are some typical challenges faced by remote puzzle designers, and how can they be effectively managed?

Remote puzzle designers often face challenges such as ensuring clear communication with team members, maintaining creative collaboration, and receiving timely feedback on their work. Since much of the design process involves brainstorming and iterating on ideas, using collaborative tools like virtual whiteboards and project management platforms can help bridge the gap. Regular video meetings and clear documentation of puzzle concepts also contribute to smoother teamwork and project progress. Proactively seeking feedback and staying organized are key strategies for overcoming these challenges in a remote setting.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Puzzle Designer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Puzzle Designer, you need strong creative thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a background in game design or a related field. Familiarity with digital design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, puzzle creation software, and collaboration platforms is typically required. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and adaptability help you collaborate effectively with remote teams and ensure engaging puzzle experiences. These skills are crucial for designing compelling puzzles that challenge and entertain users while meeting project goals in a remote work environment.

Job description

Are you passionate about solving puzzles, learning fast, and building expertise where business, technology, and legal operations meet?
This is a role designed for someone who is naturally curious, loves to untangle problems, and wants to build deep expertise at the intersection of law, business, and operations. You don't need prior contracts experience - you need a sharp mind, an eye for detail, and a real appetite to learn. You'll also become fluent in what Percona actually sells: our expert consulting, support, and managed services across MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB. Understanding our products is what makes the rest of the work click into place.
What You Will Do
As a Contracts Associate, you'll step into the dynamic intersection of law and business, where no two days look quite the same. You'll work alongside a small but talented team that will invest in your development from day one. Every contract is a new puzzle, and every puzzle is a chance to grow. This role is perfect for someone who is energized by figuring out how things work, asking good questions, and finding cleaner ways to do them.
  • Learn to Draft and Refine: With guidance and structured training, you'll prepare, send, and help negotiate contracts - updating language for clarity and relevance using modern tools like Salesforce, Ironclad and AI. We'll teach you the platforms; you bring the curiosity.
  • Get the Quote Right: Our contracts team prides itself on being expert navigators of Salesforce, making sure every opportunity is set up correctly from the start. You'll learn to verify that quotes accurately reflect what the customer is buying - so customers receive the right entitlements, our Services teams know exactly what to deliver, and Billing and Finance have clean, reliable information on which to invoice and report. This is detail work that genuinely matters, and it's a place where careful thinking pays off every single day.
  • Learn Our Products: You'll build a working knowledge of Percona's expert consulting, support tiers, and managed services across MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB. You don't need a technical background to start - but by the end of your first year, you'll understand our offerings well enough to spot when something on a quote or contract doesn't look right.
  • Collaborate and Problem-Solve: Partner with internal teams and customers as you build your negotiation skills, working closely with the Senior Director of Contract Operations and Contracts Business Partner who will mentor you through increasingly complex deals.
  • Dig Into the Details: Review red-lined agreements, spot issues, and propose solutions. We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys the puzzle of "why does this clause matter, and what could it mean here?"
  • Support the Company's Work: Help respond to RFPs, vendor forms, questionnaires, and document requests, coordinating with Finance and Compliance to keep things moving.
  • Communicate Clearly: Practice explaining terms and making recommendations to internal stakeholders (Sales, Customer Success, mServices, Finance) and external partners (Customers, Partners) - clear writing and thoughtful questions matter more here than years of experience.
  • Global Team Support: Help cover time-sensitive requests across time zones during teammate absences or busy periods. Flexibility to work a schedule with at least four hours of overlap with U.S. Eastern Time.
  • Grow Into Deals Desk: Over time, you'll be trained to support the Sales, Finance, Legal, Customer Success, and Services teams as they move complex deals from quote to close. This is a real career path - you'll start by learning the building blocks and progress toward becoming a trusted advisor on deal structure, pricing, and process.
What You Have Done
  • A Bachelor's degree (business, English, philosophy, political science, pre-law, or any field that sharpened how you think and write - we care more about the rigor than the major).
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, whether through coursework, internships, part-time work, or projects. If you've ever caught a mistake nobody else noticed and felt good about it, you'll fit in.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
  • A problem-solving mindset - you don't just identify what's wrong, you start thinking about how to fix it.
  • Intellectual curiosity. You read things carefully. You ask "why." You like learning how businesses, systems, and rules actually work.
  • Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn new platforms quickly. Any exposure to Salesforce, Ironclad, or other business tools is a bonus, but not required.
What Will Make You Stand Out
  • Internship, co-op, or project experience in legal, paralegal, contracts, deals desk, operations, finance, accounting, or any role requiring meticulous review of documents.
  • Coursework or independent reading in contracts, business law, or commercial transactions.
  • Examples of process improvement - a time you took something messy and made it cleaner, even outside a work context.
  • Experience working independently or in a remote setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment in ambiguous situations.
What You'll Love About Percona
  • Hands-on mentorship from experienced professionals who genuinely enjoy teaching.
  • A clearly defined growth path into contract negotiation, deals desk, and beyond.
  • Work with global experts who thrive on solving complex problems and sharing knowledge.
  • A remote-first culture that values balance and autonomy.
  • Ongoing investment in your learning and career development.
