Senior Manager, Retention & Lifecycle Marketing (Remote)

Anchour

New Gloucester, ME • Remote

Full-time

Medical, Dental, Vision, Life, Retirement, PTO

Job description

Overview

We're hiring a Senior Manager of Retention & Lifecycle Marketing. The right person for this role has real opinions about email: what makes a subject line work, why a flow falls apart, where a brand is leaving revenue in their list. They sign up for emails from brands they'll never buy from, because they love seeing what other marketers are building. They've earned client trust by being right more often than not, and they're not above building it themselves.

Our clients span DTC ecommerce brands on Klaviyo and banks and credit unions running HubSpot lead-gen funnels. You own both sides: the strategy, the client relationships, and the work itself.

You'll set the quality bar for retention across Anchour and grow the team from there.

You'll work directly with our VP of Growth, account managers who handle day-to-day client traffic, a dev team that owns MarTech implementation, and a paid media team that fills the top of the funnel.

This is a hybrid role based out of our Maine headquarters, with flexibility for remote work. Maine-based applicants are preferred. You'll report to our VP of Growth.

About Anchour

Anchour is a creative agency of 40+ people focused on building unforgettable brands and digital experiences that help businesses punch above their weight.

Headquartered in Maine, we partner with SMBs and growing brands across industries like consumer goods, hospitality, financial services, home services, and retail. Our work spans brand strategy, identity design, website design and development, content strategy, and full-service marketing.

Great work happens when smart people are trusted to do it. We've built a place where senior talent has real ownership, real influence over direction, and the room to do the best work of their careers.

What You'll Do
  • Own retention strategy and results across email, SMS, direct mail, and lifecycle. The portfolio runs from Klaviyo-powered DTC to HubSpot lead gen for financial institutions. One day you're tuning a post-purchase flow for a food & beverage brand; the next, you're building a pre-application nurture for a credit union.
  • Be the client's retention brain. You set expectations, run strategic reviews, build roadmaps, and own the conversation about what comes next. You tell the performance story first, whether results are ahead of plan or behind it.
  • Keep your hands in the work. You'll review and shape email creative, run approval loops on flagship accounts, QA what matters, and get into Klaviyo or HubSpot when speed counts.
  • Lead and grow the retention team. You'll set the quality bar for our team, and build the process to continue growing the department.
  • Set the MarTech direction: platform selection, attribution requirements, integration specs, in partnership with a dev team that owns implementation.
  • Find the expansion play. SMS programs, direct mail tests, lifecycle automation a client doesn't know they need yet: you find it, scope it, and sell it alongside account leadership.
What We'd Like To See
  • Deep retention and lifecycle experience. 6+ years building and running email, SMS, and lifecycle programs at an agency or somewhere that required you to carry a broad portfolio fast.
  • Bilingual across verticals. Klaviyo fluency on the DTC side and HubSpot workflow experience on the B2B and financial services side. Both matter here, and few people have both.
  • Still a builder. You can build a flow, run a segment, and do a send-day QA pass, fast and clean. You'll show us in-platform during the process.
  • Love of the craft. You have strong opinions about subject lines, hierarchy, segmentation logic, and flow structure, and you can articulate why something works and why it doesn't.
  • Real client presence. You can own a strategic review and build a campaign in the same week. Clients trust you because you know the work.
  • Agency pace. A dozen brands in a week doesn't rattle you; it's what you'd miss at a brand-side role.
  • Proven as a developer of people. You've managed or mentored before and found it rewarding. You'll be developing a strong teammate from day one.
  • New England-based. This is a hybrid role with regular in-office days. Maine-based applicants are preferred.

Work Style
  • You're a player-coach. Client results and team development are both yours to own.
  • You communicate before you're asked. If results are sliding, the client hears it from you first.
  • You have opinions about email: what works, what's lazy, what a brand is leaving on the table. You share them.
  • You work closely with paid media, creative, account, and dev teams. You know retention programs don't succeed in isolation.
  • You think in systems. You build programs that hold up long after you move on to the next client challenge.
  • You take the work seriously, not yourself.
What You'll Get
  • Competitive Salary & Profit Sharing: Share in our success as we grow.
  • Hybrid Work Flexibility. Office-based in Maine with a weekly in-office day and flexibility for remote work.
  • Retirement. Savings plan with a 4% company match.
  • Premium Insurance. Premium health, dental, vision, and life insurance with generous coverage for our US-based team members.
  • Optional HSA. An optional health savings account (HSA) for employees to set aside money on a pre-tax basis for medical expenses.
  • Home Office Setup. Get a laptop + 50% reimbursement for home office equipment.
  • Paid & Flexible Holidays. 12 paid holidays throughout the year, including three flexible holidays.
  • Paid Time Off. Minimum three weeks of paid time off per year.
  • Paid Leaves. Paid parental, medical, bereavement, and other types of leave.
  • Flexible & Summer Fridays. Half-day Fridays throughout the summer, and a get-it-done-and-go mindset year-round.
  • Lifelong Learners Fund. Cash for professional development (books, conferences, courses), and team bonding fun times.
  • Baby Bonding Bucks. $500 bonus to cover diapers, meals, or other baby-related expenses for any employee welcoming a new child.
