Summary

Reporting to the COO, this Senior Executive will lead our liquid asphalt business with end-to-end accountability for purchasing, risk management, profitability, and growth. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in liquid procurement and supply chain management, with a strong background in growing profitability and a proven track record to developing high-performing teams. This is a high-impact role for a hands-on leader who thrives in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

This a remote role and can be located anywhere in the continental United States.  

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads strategy, execution and day-to-day operations of liquid asphalt business unit. 
  • Provide guidance and oversight of all liquid asphalt purchasing activities, ensuring optimal sourcing, supplier relationships, and cost efficiency at scale.
  • Lead all wholesale liquid asphalt procurement activities, including supplier relationship management, contract negotiations, and purchase approvals. Manage all liquid asphalt procurement personnel, with overall responsibility for employee safety, development, and operational performance.
  • Accountable for AMAT’s liquid asphalt margins by optimizing the company’s supply position to achieve the lowest wholesale material costs while maximizing storage and terminal efficiencies, driving unit margin expansion, profitability, and EBITDA growth.  Has mentality of driving highest end-to-end line of business margin for CRH.
  • Responsible for ensuring AMAT HMA plants are continuously supplied with liquid asphalt, and from the source that provides the best benefit for AMAT.
  • Lead execution of the 5-year Liquid Asphalt Strategic Plan.  Work closely with our AMAT Divisions to model investments and seek approvals to grow the liquid asphalt business.  Update the plan annually to identify new opportunities.
  • Manage financial and market risk associated with liquid asphalt cost fluctuations, including hedging strategies, contract negotiations, and proactive mitigation of commodity price volatility.
  • Advise AMAT leadership on liquid asphalt budgets and forecasts. Provide regular updates and insights on the liquid business to AMAT and CRH executives.
  • Sponsor the Liquid Asphalt Steering Committee.  Develop and implement best practices for liquid handling, storage, and logistics to ensure safety, compliance, quality, and operational efficiency.
  • Work closely with CRH-wide businesses including Europe Materials/Tarmac to advise on development and build out of their liquid asphalt storage position. 
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, relationship building, and a strong desire to improve the business.
  • Collaborate with AMAT Division teams to align on Liquid Asphalt business objectives and deliver exceptional results.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory requirements, and world events that impact oil prices to inform strategic decision-making.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering, or related field; MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in wholesale liquid procurement, commodity trading, or chemical/fuel/beverage/agricultural liquids supply chain.
  • Proven track record managing profitability and margin performance within a broader P&L structure and delivering measurable financial results.
  • Experience in developing and implementing commodity risk management program is preferred.
  • Strong background in operational excellence, including liquid handling, storage best practices, and process optimization.
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing teams in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
