Job description

The Remote-Control Equipment Operator will perform maintenance on the Joint Military Base grounds and must be able to pass the strict background check required to gain access to the facility.
Job Summary
The Remote-Control Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of remote-controlled mowing equipment used to maintain steep slopes, hazardous terrain, retention ponds, rights-of-way, and other areas where conventional mowing equipment is unsafe or impractical. This position plays a critical role in improving employee safety while delivering high-quality landscape maintenance services. The operator is responsible for transporting equipment, performing daily inspections, maintaining equipment, and ensuring all work is completed in accordance with company safety standards and client expectations. This position reports to the Production Manager or Branch Manager.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Remote Control Mower Operation
  • Safely operate remote-controlled mowing equipment in a variety of terrain and site conditions.
  • Maintain designated mowing areas according to company quality standards and client specifications.
  • Evaluate each job site for hazards before beginning work.
  • Adjust mowing techniques based on terrain, vegetation, weather, and site conditions.
  • Equipment Inspection & Maintenance
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of RC mowing equipment and trailers.
  • Perform routine maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, blade inspection, track inspection, and fluid checks.
  • Identify equipment issues and promptly report repair needs.
  • Maintain equipment in a clean, safe, and professional operating condition.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Wear required PPE at all times.
  • Report accidents, near misses, equipment damage, or safety concerns promptly.
  • Safely load, secure, transport, and unload equipment between job sites.
  • Set up work zones using appropriate traffic control and safety devices when required.

Additional Duties
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding daily progress, site conditions, and scheduling needs.
  • Represent the company professionally while interacting with customers and the public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Required Skills/ Abilities
  • Familiar with technology and its use in the field
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong situational awareness and hazard recognition.
  • Mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform basic equipment maintenance
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to tow and maneuver trailers preferred.

Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time on uneven ground
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Health & Welfare earnings $5.09 per hour up to 40 hours per week.
