This role is designed for a remote work setting, allowing flexibility while prioritizing the needs of patients at our hospice center. While a standard work schedule runs Monday to Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, our psychologist will occasionally need to accommodate patient needs, which may include evening or weekend availability. This structure allows for responsive care and personalized support for patients and their families.

• Conduct thorough psychological assessments, evaluating cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning to identify patient needs and inform treatment strategies.
• Develop individualized treatment plans utilizing evidence-based therapies specifically tailored to hospice patients, ensuring sensitivity to the complexities of terminal illness.
• Provide individual, couples, and family therapy to address mental health concerns associated with grief, depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders.
• Administer and interpret psychological tests, facilitating accurate diagnosis and guiding treatment choices based on patient needs.
• Collaborate effectively with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians, social workers, and nurses, to offer a coordinated and holistic approach to patient care.
• Respond to crisis situations with a calming presence, offering immediate support to patients and families in distress while ensuring safety and proper follow-up.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of assessments, treatment plans, and session notes in compliance with regulatory standards and internal protocols.
• Engage in continuous professional development by staying updated on advances in psychology and hospice care, utilizing this knowledge to enhance patient care.
• Provide mentorship to psychology interns and trainees, promoting skill development and professional growth in the next generation of mental health providers.
• Participate in case conferences and team meetings, contributing to a collaborative planning process that enhances clinical outcomes.

The psychologist will primarily work with patients in the hospice setting, addressing mental health challenges that arise from chronic illness, impending loss, and the unique stressors faced by families. This role requires an ability to approach sensitive topics with compassion and professionalism, ensuring that the emotional and psychological needs of patients and their families are met with dignity.

• A Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Psychology from an accredited program.
• Current, valid state licensure to practice as a psychologist.
• A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a relevant clinical setting, ideally with exposure to hospice or end-of-life care.
• Extensive knowledge of psychological theories and assessment methodologies relevant to hospice populations.
• Proficiency in implementing various therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), from a strong clinical foundation.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling the establishment of therapeutic rapport with clients.
• Ability to work effectively within a diverse team environment, demonstrating cultural sensitivity and understanding.

• Experience providing therapy within a hospice or palliative care setting.
• Familiarity with crisis intervention and suicide prevention strategies.
• Prior engagement in interdisciplinary team settings will be advantageous.
