Job Summary
The Proofreader serves as a key quality-control partner for marketing and communications materials supporting the Crop Protection business. This role is responsible for reviewing content for accuracy, grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and consistency prior to publication or deployment across digital, print, email, social, video, and web channels.
The ideal candidate brings exceptional attention to detail, strong knowledge of AP Style, and the ability to manage high volumes of content in a fast-paced marketing environment. This role partners closely with writers, strategists, project managers, and marketing communications teams to help ensure content aligns with our editorial standards, brand guidelines, and Crop Protection business requirements.
Responsibilities
- Proofread and review a wide range of marketing and communications materials, including digital content, email communications, web copy, social media content, video scripts and subtitles, sales enablement materials, print collateral, presentations, and product communications.
- Review content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, AP Style adherence, clarity and readability, tone consistency, and accurate terminology and product naming conventions.
- Ensure all materials align with editorial standards, Crop Protection portfolio terminology, brand and messaging guidelines, and legal and regulatory language requirements where applicable.
- Identify inconsistencies, errors, or unclear language and communicate recommended corrections to content creators and project stakeholders.
- Fact-check content and validate accuracy of product references, claims, terminology, and supporting information as needed.
- Collaborate with writers, strategists, designers, project managers, and marketing communications teams to support the delivery of high-quality content.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting established deadlines.
- Continuously expand knowledge of Crop Protection products, portfolios, and agricultural terminology to improve proofreading effectiveness and business understanding.
Skills
- Proven experience as a Proofreader within a high-volume marketing, communications, publishing, advertising, or corporate content environment.
- Exceptional command of grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and AP Style guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify subtle inconsistencies across large volumes of content.
- Ability to maintain accuracy and consistency while managing multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Comfortable reviewing content across multiple channels and formats, including digital, print, email, social, video, and web.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, PDF markup/commenting tools, and content review and workflow platforms including Optimizely or similar systems.
- Ability to learn and apply evolving editorial, legal, regulatory, and brand standards.
- General familiarity with the agriculture industry, including corn, soybeans, cereals, crop protection products, livestock, and specialty crop terminology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting agriculture, agribusiness, life sciences, or regulated-industry communications.
- Experience working within enterprise marketing workflows and fast-paced content environments.
- Familiarity with omnichannel marketing campaigns and integrated communications.
