LJB Inc. is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill a full-time Senior Risk Manager role in San Jose, CA. The ideal candidate will have 15+ years working on major surface and underground rail projects, including risk management during both design and construction project phases, and will possess the professional and interpersonal skills to make a positive impact on our firm and the clients we serve. We are looking for a motivated professional with a forward-thinking mindset, strong problem-solving skills, and a collaborative spirit.
Salary Range: $176,000 - $240,000 based upon experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

SENIOR RISK MANAGER ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Managing projects and major tasks on projects, including writing proposals and developing work scope, fee, and schedule for project work.
  • Reporting of project progress and troubleshooting issues arising to maintain project profitability.
  • Maintaining quality by appropriate implementation of the LJB quality management process.
  • Implementing LJB health and safety practices to ensure employees are suitably trained and qualified to work on projects.
  • Leading risk management tasks in support of projects, including leading and facilitating meetings and workshops.
  • Producing reports and other project deliverables for clients.
  • Making presentations to project teams and external agencies, including Board of Directors and political decision-makers.
  • Independently preparing construction plans and specifications, structural/ geotechnical calculations and design reports, and technical memoranda.
  • Communicating technical and non-technical information in a concise, professional manner including participation in technical meetings and workshops with owners, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Independently preparing technical reports including technical memoranda, letters, and reports, as well as geotechnical data reports (GDRs), and geotechnical baseline reports (GBRs).
  • Leading and carrying out tasks that include qualitative and quantitative risk analysis.
  • Project/program cost and schedule analysis and understanding to add risk costs and time (through analysis) to overall budgets.
  • Increasing LJB's visibility in the industry by participating in regional initiatives, conferences, committees, and community associations, including any identified professional association activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SENIOR RISK MANAGER ESSENTIAL CREDENTIALS:
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant area of study.
  • 15+ years of relevant project experience in the planning, design, and construction of a variety of surface and tunnel rail projects and major water/wastewater programs.
  • Experience with FTA and FRA programs and direct liaison with those agencies.
  • A thorough knowledge of relevant technical codes, operations, processes, and trends.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven track record of winning new work and building business a plus

Core Skills:
  • Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, interact with other staff, collaborate with other disciplines and mentor junior staff.
  • Excellent problem solving, decision making, and teamwork skills.
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills and attention to detail.
