This Opportunity


WSP is currently initiating a search for a Project Manager- Power & Energy in our Power & Energy team in Amarillo, TX.  This is also a remote position with the ability to work from a mutually acceptable WSP office location. 

This position advances the successful delivery of large, complex, and high-risk projects by leading the design and execution of integrated project risk strategies. The role applies deep technical knowledge and analytical expertise to evaluate critical uncertainties and drive effective mitigation plans that protect performance across cost, schedule, and scope. By serving as a trusted advisor to project and program leadership, this position strengthens decision-making and promotes a consistent, enterprise-aligned approach to risk management. It also contributes to organizational learning and operational excellence through the refinement of tools, training, and governance frameworks.

Your Impact

    Provides leadership in the development and implementation of robust project risk management frameworks tailored to the complexity and scale of major capital and infrastructure programs.
    Collaborates with program directors, project managers, and technical leads to assess critical risk exposures across financial, schedule, technical, regulatory, and reputational domains.
    Facilitates high-level risk identification and evaluation workshops using structured tools and scenario-based techniques.
    Oversees the preparation and validation of quantitative risk analyses, including probabilistic simulations and risk-adjusted forecasts.
    Advises on contingency requirements, escalation protocols, and mitigation strategies to support project governance and financial planning.
    Monitors risk response actions across multiple disciplines and ensures accountability for timely and effective mitigation.
    Supports the integration of risk outputs into overall project controls, including cost management, scheduling, earned value, and forecasting.
    Develops and maintains comprehensive risk registers, heat maps, and dashboards that provide executive-level insight into risk status and trends.
    Delivers risk briefings and reports to senior leadership, clients, and steering committees, clearly communicating high-impact exposures and required actions.
    Provides subject matter expertise on risk provisions during contract reviews and supports claim analysis and dispute resolution.
    Serves as a mentor and coach to risk professionals, building internal capabilities through knowledge-sharing, training, and peer review.
    Leads lessons learned reviews, root cause investigations, and after-action assessments to drive continuous improvement.
    Contributes to enterprise-level risk initiatives, including standardization of templates, procedures, and performance metrics.
    Ensures alignment of risk management practices with WSP's project delivery methodology and applicable client or regulatory standards.
    Evaluates risk interdependencies across workstreams, interfaces, and external stakeholders.
    Leads proactive identification of emerging risk themes and anticipates macro-level developments that may impact project execution
    Leads strategic risk input during proposal development and business pursuits by assessing risk exposure and contributing to strategic positioning.
    Engages with external consultants, legal teams, and insurance providers to coordinate specialized risk support.
    Maintains thorough documentation to support audits, funding reviews, and internal governance processes.
    Advises project leadership on balancing risk exposure with opportunity optimization in pursuit of client and business outcomes.
    Supports digital transformation initiatives in risk management by evaluating and implementing data-driven tools and analytics.
    Collaborates with global colleagues to share best practices and maintain consistency in approach.
    Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
    Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

    Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, or a closely related discipline, or demonstrated proven equivalent experience.
    10+ years of relevant post-education experience in project risk management or related areas.
    Deep understanding of project and program risk management methodologies, tools, and lifecycle application.
    Advanced proficiency with quantitative risk modeling techniques, including Monte Carlo simulations.
    Experience supporting complex, multi-disciplinary projects in sectors such as infrastructure, transportation, or energy.
    Proven ability to design and implement risk frameworks aligned with organizational strategy and project scale.
    Strong facilitation skills and experience leading risk identification and assessment workshops at senior levels.
    Skilled in synthesizing technical and commercial risk information for diverse audiences, including clients and executives.
    Ability to translate complex risk profiles into actionable mitigation strategies and monitoring plans.
    Demonstrated capability in integrating risk with cost, schedule, and earned value systems.
    Track record of managing risk programs across concurrent projects or programs.
    Proficient in the use of risk tools such as Primavera Risk Analysis, @RISK, or similar.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence decision-making.
    Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through the development of risk mitigation and response strategies.
    Experience developing KPIs and dashboards for risk reporting and performance tracking.
    Understanding of contractual risk allocation, commercial strategy, and procurement models.
    Familiarity with ISO 31000, AACE, or equivalent risk management standards.
    Experience preparing risk documentation for internal governance, client review, and external audit.
    Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with attention to both detail and strategic context.
    Capacity to identify trends and interdependencies across risks and recommend enterprise-wide improvements.
    Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and adapt to dynamic project environments.
    Experience mentoring and coaching junior and mid-level professionals in risk practices.
    Commitment to continuous professional development in risk management and project delivery.
    Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative and diplomatic approach.

Preferred Qualifications

    Master's Degree.
    Professional certification such as PMI-RMP, AACE Decision & Risk Management Professional, or equivalent.
    Experience supporting risk management on alternative delivery projects (e.g., P3, design-build).
    Familiarity with systems engineering and how technical risks influence project baselines.
    Participation in corporate risk governance committees or risk maturity assessments.
    Experience implementing digital risk platforms or enterprise risk data solutions.

Compensation:

Expected Salary (all locations): $119,600 - $174,400

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.

Expected Salary (Colorado only): $111,200 - $186,100
