What You'll Do

As a Substation CADD Technician, you will play a key role in transforming engineering concepts into detailed designs using advanced 3D modeling and drafting tools. Your responsibilities will include:

In the role of Substation CADD Technician, we'll count on you to:

  • Developing detailed 3D models for substation facilities and equipment using Autodesk Revit.
  • Producing high-quality engineering drawings, including:
    • Physical layouts, details, and sections
    • Control building layouts, sections, and elevations
    • Grounding and conduit plans
    • Foundation and grading plans
    • Control single line, schematic, and wiring diagrams
    • Bills of materials, equipment callouts, and cable schedules.
  • Generating coordinated 2D construction drawings directly from 3D BIM models.
  • Supporting model coordination efforts, including clash detection and design reviews.
  • Working closely with engineers and designers across multiple disciplines to deliver accurate and efficient designs.
  • Contributing to the advancement of BIM and digital delivery best practices within the Power Delivery group.
  • Supporting both large-scale utility projects and smaller, fast-paced engineering assignments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical or associate diploma/degree, Revit and AutoCAD or MicroStation certification, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience preparing substation CADD layouts and design drawings from engineering concepts.
  • Strong proficiency in Autodesk Revit with demonstrated 3D modeling experience is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in electrical substations, utility, power delivery, or similar industry experience is an asset.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with local and remote project teams.
  • Experience transitioning traditional 2D CAD workflows into BIM/Revit-based environments is considered a strong asset.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
