Job description

Build Labs is seeking a Project Manager who will be a key member of the software technology delivery team. You will manage workload intake, delivery cadence, client communication, team resource requirements, and work delivery.


We focus on design development, and long-term support, usually over several years, adding features and fixing bugs for software that Build Labs (or occasionally another company) created and launched.  Team resources, skills sets, and availability are constantly shifting, requiring daily or hourly adjustments to team, tasks, and plans.


Build Labs follows the Agile-like approach to project delivery, while still respecting the need for documentation and process. As such, the Project Manager’s role is to continually understand what has been done, what needs to be done, what is the highest priority for our clients, and what is necessary for our business.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with client and delivery team to intake, understand, plan and execute the software changes requested.
  • Breakdown each feature into Tasks, and sub-tasks.
  • Create and manage the process of estimating each Task and Sub-Task in project management software.
  • Schedule and run team meetings, Daily team syncs, Demos and Retrospectives.
  • Actively communicate with clients on status and expenditures, including weekly summaries.
  • Work with Accounting to identify project billings and delivery points.
  • Performs related work as apparent or assigned.


Required Skills:

This position requires experience in:

  • Experience in project management, preferably delivering software development or related systems.
  • Ability to monitor, review, adjust, multiple simultaneous moving workstreams.
  • Understanding the differing requirements of fixed-bid, time & materials, and managed services.
  • Agile and/or traditional waterfall software development processes.
  • Understanding of traditional software development lifecycle.
  • Jira, Slack, Clockify, and similar software for setup, review and management of project related tasks.
  • Daily review of each project, with constant attention on current state, what has been done, what is in progress, and what is next on the priority.
