Description

The Project Engineer receives technical guidance from the Department Manager, Chief Engineer and/or Senior Project Engineer. The Project Engineer plans, schedules and coordinates detailed phase work requiring judgment in independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. The Project Engineer directly supervises personnel assigned to his or her project team. The Project Engineer must relate well to those staff members and assure their continuing professional advancement. Has regular client contact to ensure everyday operation is monitored.

Responsibilities:

General knowledge of other disciplines involved in multi-disciplined projects.

Requires sufficient professional experience to assure competence as fully trained engineer.

Prepare construction plans, estimates, specifications and bid documents for local municipalities according to applicable agency standards

Preparation of proposal estimates of time and cost required to complete a project.

Assisting in the presentation of proposals to clients and selection of a project team.

Determining major project design decisions in conjunction with the client, such as setbacks, location of roadways, storm drains, sewer and other utility routes, etc.

Assigning duties to the project team, answering their questions, and monitoring their progress.

Checking the accuracy of completed work.

Maintaining a close relationship with the client throughout development of the project, assisting the client in selecting contractors, and continuing client contact after project is completed.

Monitoring construction.

Review and recommendation of change orders.

The timely and accurate completion of assigned projects

Will support various municipal projects, mainly within Oakland and Macomb counties. Will spend majority of time with Project-related tasks: Design, Engineering, Construction, Contractor communication, grant applications/support, and could consist of water, sewer, grading, roads, etc..

Could use AutoCAD, MicroStation, and/or Civil 3D for design support

They offer 1 day of remote work after initial 30-90 training in the role.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

MUST HAVES:

Bachelors in Civil Engineering

5 plus years of experience in a Civil Design, Civil Construction, and/or Civil Project Engineering, role

Experience on municipal and/or government civil design/construction projects is ideal, but open to other areas such as Land Development, Transportation, W/WW, or other civil types of projects

CAD knowledge

PE or ability to obtain in 1 year

BONUS:

8 plus years of experience

MicroStation and/or Civil 3D design skills

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $115000.00/yr.
