Job description

Avanceon is seeking an experienced Lead Project Engineer with strong Inductive Automation Ignition expertise to join our Engineering Team. This role combines hands-on automation and controls engineering with responsibility for leading project teams and owning the successful technical delivery of customer projects.
Responsibilities
  • Work with customers to understand their operational and technical challenges and design automation solutions that improve productivity, efficiency, capacity, and quality.
  • Serve as the accountable technical authority for assigned projects, owning the technical approach, design decisions, engineering quality, and successful technical delivery.
  • Lead project engineering teams by providing technical direction, coordinating engineering activities, reviewing work, and resolving technical issues.
  • Partner with the Project Manager or Project Coordinator on planning, scheduling, financial tracking, documentation, and project coordination.
  • Design, develop, configure, test, deploy, and support applications using Inductive Automation Ignition Perspective, tags, alarming, historian, scripting, databases, OPC UA, and industrial device integration.
  • Develop and integrate PLC, HMI/SCADA, and other control solutions across a variety of industries and processes.
  • Apply Industry 4.0, IIoT, IT, and other emerging technologies where they provide value to the customer.
  • Work effectively across engineering, operations, IT, and customer teams throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements
  • Strong hands-on experience with Inductive Automation Ignition and implementation of production applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently develop, troubleshoot, and deploy Ignition solutions in an industrial environment.
  • Experience leading engineering teams and taking technical ownership of automation projects from design through commissioning and customer acceptance.
  • Experience programming PLC and SCADA systems; Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and Schneider experience preferred.
  • Experience integrating SCADA applications with PLCs, industrial networks, databases, and plant or enterprise systems.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, scripting, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Comfortable working directly with customers and communicating across engineering, IT, and operations.
  • Ignition Gold Certification preferred; equivalent demonstrated Ignition project experience will be considered.
  • This position can be local or remote but requires project-related travel to customer locations.
