Role Overview
The Senior Application Developer serves as the subject matter expert for Oracle Commerce Cloud (OCC) and Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) supporting high-volume consumer e-commerce storefronts, B2B ordering portals, and internal associate applications. This role is responsible for the independent analysis, design, custom development, enhancement, and operational support of mission-critical e-commerce platforms. Operating across the full software development lifecycle, the developer executes custom coding, middleware integration, performance tuning, and peer code reviews while maintaining strict adherence to Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance and enterprise change management standards.
Key Responsibilities

Application Design & Full-Stack Development
• Design, develop, debug, and enhance custom features across consumer e-commerce websites, licensee ordering portals, and internal associate applications.
• Build modular frontend UI components utilizing the Open Storefront Framework (OSF), JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
• Develop robust backend services and data integrations utilizing Java, SQL, JSON, XML, and MongoDB.
• Estimate level of effort (LOE) for business service requests, defect corrections, and platform enhancements to assist leadership with project prioritization.
Integrations & Oracle Cloud Ecosystem
• Configure and maintain integration workflows within Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC) to connect e-commerce systems with external enterprise platforms.
• Perform technical evaluations of third-party software products and APIs to assess feasibility and guide architectural integration into the Oracle suite.
• Provide ongoing operational and technical support for Oracle Commerce Cloud (OCC) environments and associated extranet systems.
Testing, Code Review & Quality Assurance
• Conduct rigorous peer code reviews to enforce software design standards, security best practices, and maintainability.
• Execute unit, integration, and system validation testing across multiple non-production environments prior to User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Investigate, reproduce, and resolve technical defects identified during internal testing and business acceptance cycles.
• Maintain clean, stable, and synchronized non-production and staging environments to ensure predictable release cycles.
Operations, Maintenance & Change Management
• Monitor application execution, query response times, and system health to identify and remediate operational bottlenecks.
• Perform scheduled off-hours maintenance, service restarts, and integration monitoring to maintain platform uptime.
• Adhere to formal Change Management protocols, delivering complete technical documentation, release packages, and risk assessments.
• Ensure all platform architectures and code implementations comply with enterprise data security guidelines and Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards.
Required Qualifications
• 2 or more years of hands-on experience developing with Oracle Commerce Cloud (OCC) and the Open Storefront Framework (OSF).
• 2 or more years of frontend development experience utilizing JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
• 2 or more years of backend programming experience utilizing Java.
• 2 or more years of experience querying and managing relational databases with SQL and tools such as Oracle SQL Developer.
• 2 or more years of experience with data formatting and API communication using XML and JSON.
• 2 or more years of experience working with NoSQL database technologies such as MongoDB.
• Proven experience working within CI/CD pipelines, DevOps workflows, and modern development environments (such as Visual Studio).
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience configuring and troubleshooting integrations using Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC).
• Demonstrated background supporting high-volume public-facing retail e-commerce or B2B transactional portals.
• In-depth understanding of Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI-DSS) and secure payment gateway integrations.
• Prior experience supporting public sector, state agency, or heavily regulated enterprise e-commerce environments.
