What Is the Job of Remote Programmers?

Remote programmers use a variety of coding languages to write computer software, mobile applications, and websites. Instead of working in the office, remote programmers complete their tasks at home or another location outside of the office. They take the application designs created by developers and translate them into computer language that tells the computer what to do. Common computer languages they utilize in their projects include Java, C++, and Python. Remote programmers may also be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and updating the software, as necessary. Depending on their area of expertise, programmers may work as app developers, software developers, web developers, firmware developers, analysts, and computer scientists.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Programmer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Programmer, you need strong coding abilities in relevant programming languages, problem-solving skills, and a degree in computer science or equivalent experience. Familiarity with version control systems like Git, cloud platforms, and remote collaboration tools is commonly required. Excellent self-motivation, time management, and clear written communication make someone stand out in remote environments. These skills ensure productivity, seamless teamwork, and successful project delivery without in-person supervision.

Partners closely with Workday Developers, Business Analysts, and Cyber Security to ensure aligned delivery, secure operations, and adherence to enterprise standards.

  • Evaluates and implements configuration changes with a cross module and enterprise mindset, ensuring changes align with Workday best practices, minimize downstream impacts, and support consistent user experiences across functional areas.
  • Documents system configurations, business processes, and tenant procedures to support operational continuity, knowledge transfer, audit requirements, and effective onboarding of new administrators and partners.
  • Ensures SSO consistency across the platform.
  • Ensures segregation of duties configurations meet financial and regulatory requirements, proactively identifying and mitigating potential conflicts in collaboration with Risk, Compliance, and Cyber Security teams.
  • Supports periodic user access reviews and audit inquiries, providing timely evidence, documentation, and remediation plans as needed to satisfy internal and external audit requirements.
  • Collaborates with Risk, Compliance, and Cyber Security stakeholders to maintain strong system controls, monitor control effectiveness, and ensure Workday configurations align with evolving regulatory expectations.
  • Maintains comprehensive documentation to support regulatory examinations and audits, including system architecture, security design, configuration decisions, and change history.
  • Manages the review, testing, and documentation of Workday releases and updates, assessing impacts on existing configurations, coordinating testing activities, and ensuring readiness prior to deployment.
  • Coordinates change management activities for platform enhancements and configuration updates, including release planning, stakeholder communication, risk evaluation, and postimplementation validation.
  • Oversees integrations between Workday and internal or external systems, ensuring integrations are reliable, secure, properly monitored, and aligned with enterprise integration architecture standards.
  • Supports data integration processes using Workday tools such as EIBs, APIs, and middleware platforms by troubleshooting issues, monitoring data flows, and ensuring data accuracy and timeliness.
  • Serves as a technical advisor to the Workday Product Owner and functional administrators, providing guidance on platform capabilities, design options, limitations, and long-term implications of configuration decisions.
  • Translates business requirements into scalable, compliant Workday configurations, balancing operational efficiency with platform operations, security, and regulatory expectations-particularly for new modules or expanded use cases.
  • Supports enterprise reporting and analytics needs, partnering with stakeholders to ensure data integrity, optimal data sources, and accurate reporting across Workday domains.
