Responsibilities
  • Assists with draping the patient and establishing the sterile field.
  • Operate various surgical equipment and tools
  • Passes sterile instruments to surgeons during procedures.
  • Applies medical technology of anatomy and physiology correctly.
  • Collaborates with circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining sterile environment.
  • Protects healthcare organization value by keeping information confidential
  • Prepares and anticipates instrumentation, equipment, and supplies for usage during the procedure.
  • Sets up individual cases correctly using doctor’s preference cards as a reference utilizing appropriate instruments and prosthetic devices.
  • Citizenship responsibilities include:
  • Accepts and completes all duties positively and without conflict
  • Cooperates, helps others and improves the performance of the unit
  • Completes all mandatory unit, educational and hospital requirements
  • Utilizes cost effective practices in performing all aspects of the job
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Assists physicians and RN with emergency situations.
  • Serves as preceptor for new employees and nursing students
  • Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during the procedure.
  • Handle specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Accountable for the disposal of all bio-hazard materials and "sharps."
  • Completes all mandatory department, educational and hospital requirements
  • Adheres to current Infection Control and Safety Standards
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required
  • Related duties as assigned

Additional Information

Employees must be in a regular position, working 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) to qualify for benefits.
