Job description

Title: Senior Associate NY Labor Law Attorney
Location: New York, NY (remote; must be commutable to Long Island)
Salary: $130,000 to $150,000 / year

About Our Client

Our client is a minority-owned insurance defense firm with a dedicated New York construction litigation practice. They represent property owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and municipalities in the defense of personal injury actions arising under New York Labor Law Sections 200, 240(1), and 241(6). This is niche, substantive work with a real learning curve, and the firm takes that seriously.

Attorneys in this practice carry their own files and handle all aspects of litigation, from the pleadings through resolution. The firm is lean and deliberate, which means your work is visible, your opinions matter, and you are not lost in a department. They are building their Labor Law team and are looking for someone who wants to grow alongside that practice rather than simply fill a seat.

What You Will Own

- Handle all phases of New York Labor Law litigation: pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, court appearances, and mediations

- Research applicable statutes, case law, and regulations to build effective defense strategies

- Draft and review pleadings, motions, and other legal documents

- Communicate strategy and updates clearly to claims representatives and insured clients

- Track billable hours and comply with invoicing standards

- Mentor junior attorneys and collaborate with partners on complex construction matters

Who Fits

- NY-barred attorney with 4 to 6 years of experience litigating New York Labor Law actions

- JD from an accredited law school

- Working knowledge of Sections 200, 240(1), and 241(6) and the construction litigation

landscape

- Comfortable handling a caseload independently

- Strong drafter with experience in motions practice

- Lives within commutable distance to Long Island

Who Thrives Here

You have been doing Labor Law defense work and you actually like it. You want to deepen your expertise in this niche rather than rotate through practice areas. You are autonomous by nature and want a firm where your judgment is trusted. You are interested in mentoring others as the team grows.

Compensation and Benefits

$130,000 to $150,000 base. This reflects a boutique defense firm structure; attorneys here earn through autonomy, growth, and quality of work rather than BigLaw billing rates. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with matching; life and disability insurance; paid time off; parental leave; and an employee assistance program.

This is a Bosun Solutions confidential search. The firm's identity will be shared with candidates who advance in the process.
