Job description

The Philadelphia, PA office of Kaufman Dolowich, a full-service National Law firm with more than 250 attorneys across 16 offices and over 25 practice areas, is actively seeking an attorney to join our growing civil defense litigation team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced litigators on professional liability, general liability, D&O, insurance coverage, and commercial litigation matters in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Our attorneys receive meaningful hands-on experience, direct client interaction, and strong mentorship while representing professionals, businesses, and insurers in complex litigation matters.
The ideal candidate will have between four (4) to five (5) years of civil defense litigation experience. This position provides the opportunity to work on a broad range of matters.
Responsibilities
  • Handle all phases of Professional Liability, D&O, General Liability and Commercial Litigation cases from inception through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, breach of contracts, and other litigation-related documents
  • Conduct legal research, assist with litigation strategy, and case analysis
  • Manage discovery, prepare for, and attend depositions, mediations, hearings, and trial preparation
  • Communicate directly with clients, insurers, opposing counsel, and witnesses while providing regular case updates and strategic guidance
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex litigation matters
  • Provide proactive case management and client reporting

Qualifications
  • Admission to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey is required
  • 4 to 5 years of Professional Liability, D&O, General Liability or Commercial Litigation experience
  • Strong writing, research, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced litigation environment
  • Strong organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills

Required Experience
  • Insurance defense litigation
  • Experience handling depositions, motion practice, mediations, arbitrations, and court appearances
  • Experience managing matters independently
