Remote Production Editor information

What is a remote production editor?

Remote production editors are professionals who oversee the final stages of content production, such as editing, formatting, and proofing, while working from a location outside of a traditional office. They coordinate with writers, designers, and publishers to ensure that materials like books, journals, or digital content meet quality standards and are delivered on time. Their responsibilities often include managing workflow, correcting errors, and preparing files for publication, all while utilizing digital tools to collaborate with team members remotely.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote production editor?

To thrive as a Remote Production Editor, you need a strong grasp of editorial standards, meticulous attention to detail, and experience with copyediting or proofreading, often supported by a degree in English, journalism, or a related field. Familiarity with digital publishing platforms, workflow management tools, and style guides such as APA or Chicago Manual of Style is typically required. Excellent time management, communication, and collaboration skills help you coordinate with authors and production teams remotely. These skills ensure accuracy, consistency, and efficient delivery of high-quality content in a distributed work environment.

What are some common challenges faced by remote production editors, and how can they be managed effectively?

Remote Production Editors often encounter challenges such as coordinating with distributed teams across different time zones, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and ensuring consistent communication with authors, designers, and other stakeholders. To manage these effectively, it's important to develop strong organizational skills, leverage collaborative tools like project management software, and establish clear communication protocols. Looking to transition to or expand in an in-house role at one of the most innovative companies in the world? Love counseling a business but want to know your work has meaning?
Genomic sequencing and other innovations in diagnostic testing permit us to decode and process our biological makeup. We now have more data than ever, but health care providers don't have the infrastructure or expertise to make sense of this data. We are on a mission to build and connect systems to redefine how healthcare data is used in clinical settings. We're looking to build a legal team that can support our ambitious business goals.
Location: Remote or Hybrid in Chicago
Key Responsibilities

You will also work on common corporate contracts, such as vendor agreements.
  • In addition to this transactional focus, you will get a chance to grow and expand your skill set by assisting with other types of general legal work in a rapidly growing technology and health care company. Some areas you might focus on include intellectual property, employment and human resources, corporate governance, fundraising, mergers and acquisitions, regulatory, and international issues.
  • To do this job well, you will work with various internal business units, including our commercial organizations, data science, medical affairs, product & engineering, finance, communications, and our people teams. You will assist in evaluating legal risk and opportunities with the projects our businesses are engaged in, and help facilitate our business goals. We move fast, and we take pride that the Legal Department sets the pace.

Qualifications
