What is a remote production control?

A Remote Production Control job involves overseeing and managing production processes, workflows, and systems from a remote location. Professionals in this role coordinate production schedules, monitor output, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that manufacturing or broadcasting operations run smoothly without being physically present on-site. They rely on digital tools and communication platforms to interact with teams and maintain efficiency. This role is common in industries like manufacturing, broadcasting, and IT, where remote monitoring and problem-solving are feasible and effective.

Excellent communication, problem-solving, and time management skills help you coordinate effectively with distributed teams and respond quickly to production issues. These skills ensure efficient workflows, minimize downtime, and maintain consistent production quality in remote or distributed environments.

What are some typical challenges faced by professionals in a remote production control role, and how can they be addressed?

In a Remote Production Control position, common challenges include maintaining real-time oversight of production processes without being physically present on-site, managing communication across distributed teams, and quickly responding to unexpected issues or outages. To address these, professionals often rely on robust monitoring tools, clear documentation, and well-established communication protocols. Proactively building strong relationships with on-site staff and regularly reviewing process logs can also help ensure smooth operations and minimize downtime.

Job Description
Attention AV programmers: If you want to do more than just routine AV programming and are ready to take the next step in your career, this may be the opportunity for you.
AV control system programmers with a software development mindset, knowledge of mainstream programming languages, and at least two years of field experience who are looking to apply their skills to developing and supporting the building blocks - modules, drivers, and plugins that programmers rely on for successful device integration, you have come to the right place.

This role entails continuous learning and a desire to take on new challenges to meet client requirements and business needs while staying on the leading edge of AV software development. Candidates must be committed to developing proficiency in new technologies and programming platforms as the AV industry evolves.
As audiovisual control shifts from programming to configuration, those who leverage modern software development languages will avoid obsolescence or commoditization. Control Concepts has been blending software development with AV control system platforms for decades, helping manufacturers create the building blocks AV programmers need to complete projects more efficiently and effectively, in the form of modules, drivers, and plugins that provide API integration.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Create, support, and maintain multi-platform API integrations between manufacturers' products and AV control system platforms
  • Support AV systems utilizing control system platforms, including, but not limited to, Crestron, Q-SYS, Crestron Home, Control4, RTI, Extron, and Elan for commercial and residential audiovisual applications
  • Learn new programming languages and control platforms as required to satisfy business needs
  • Contribute to a project team of software developers to identify new opportunities, create new products, and develop innovative applications that are put to market
  • Provide technical support during development, implementation, and ongoing client needs

Qualifications:
  • Understanding of API integration with AV control platforms
  • Experience with C#, Lua, Python, JavaScript, HTML5, and/or other modern programming languages
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking and Web technology
  • Implementation of object-oriented programming
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Crestron, Q-SYS, Crestron Home, Control4, RTI, Extron, and/or Elan platform knowledge and programming experience
  • Minimum of two years of AV field experience with control system programming
  • Candidate must be customer-centric, self-motivated, organized, analytical, personable, and a problem solver with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities

This position is for a remote worker. Control Concepts has a remote team with headquarters in NJ and members throughout the US. The ability to work independently, communicate reliably, and be trusted to fulfill responsibilities with minimal oversight while fitting into a close-knit software team on an East Coast schedule is critical.
To act on this limited opportunity, submit a cover letter along with your resume for consideration and share your favorite programming language in [square brackets] in your subject lineOnly candidates who show genuine interest will be considered.
About Control Concepts:
Founded in 1997, Control Concepts is the premier AV software development company and the leader in integrating manufacturers' products with audiovisual control system platforms through the development of drivers, modules, plugins, middleware, and applications. The value these offerings provide eases the effort for integrators and programmers seeking to control devices through robust APIs and simplifies compatibility for third-party manufacturers' devices.
As a small business, each member is a vital component and directly impacts the company's success. Teamwork, collaboration, customer service, and a commitment to quality are the cornerstones of our success.
At Control Concepts, we believe that team members don't need to differentiate between their work and personal lives. Each team member is treated as an individual and managed with care and consideration for the complete person, taking into account their needs both at work and at home.
Benefits include health insurance, a 401 (k), paid holidays, sick and vacation time, a caring and comfortable environment, and long-term career potential.
