Prowess Consulting is assisting BD Performing Arts with this search for this Technical Product Owner.
Job Overview
BD Performing Arts, a 501c-3 non-profit organization, is the global leader in pageantry and the marching arts. To sustain and further its tradition of innovative excellence, BD Performing Arts has an aggressive vision for the future of the performing arts. BD Performing Arts is searching for a Technical Product Owner to help realize this vision through modern information technology and AI.
The Technical Product Owner will guide the vision, user experience, and strategic execution of BD Performing Arts diverse technical initiatives. This role is responsible for the full lifecycle of internal and external applications, systems, and websites - with a strong emphasis on translating ideas into intuitive, validated user interfaces and ensuring high-quality implementation through an outsourced development team.
This role can be performed remotely from anywhere in the United States; however, work hours will align with Pacific Time, with core hours from 8:00a to 5:00p. To be considered for this role you must reside in Washington state, Oregon, or California. No third-party agencies, please.
The offered salary range for this role is $90,000-$110,000. The BD Performing Arts benefits offering includes medical, dental, and vision at 70% employer paid, and unlimited PTO.
Responsibilities
  • Drive requirements gathering through user research across a wide variety of users and stakeholders.
  • Translate ideas, user needs, and business requirements into clear, high-fidelity user interface designs using Figma.
  • Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and UI specifications that bring concepts to life and ensure clarity for both stakeholders and developers.
  • Facilitate iterative design reviews with stakeholders, validate usability, and refine designs based on feedback.
  • Own the translation of stakeholder feedback and research insights into user stories and acceptance criteria; prioritize and maintain the feature backlog.
  • Collaborate closely with outsourced/offshore developers to ensure accurate implementation of Figma designs, clarify requirements, and maintain alignment throughout development.
  • Manage day-to-day development activities, including sprint planning, QA coordination, and release schedules.
  • Maintain product roadmaps for BD Performing Arts software platforms, both third-party and proprietary.
  • Collaborate with partners inside and outside BD Performing Arts to innovate offerings and support technical initiatives across the organization.
  • Report progress, risks, and results to executive leadership on a regular cadence.
Required Experience / Qualifications
  • Work experience as a Product Owner or similar role in product management.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Figma, including creating wireframes, prototypes, design systems, and developer-ready UI specifications.
  • Professional experience working with software development teams and modern development processes such as SCRUM and AI-assisted coding.
  • Progressive vision for AI, including coding (Claude code preferred), agents, security, and responsible AI.
  • Hands-on experience managing all stages of the product lifecycle.
  • Technical background with knowledge of software development and web technologies.
  • Team-oriented with excellent communication and facilitation skills.
  • BA or BS in social sciences, marketing, computer science, or a related discipline - or equivalent experience.
  • PMP or CSM certification desired.
  • Passion for pageantry, marching music, or performing arts is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with event management software or event-driven businesses is a plus.
