What is remote product design?

Remote product design is the process of creating and developing new products or improving existing ones while working from a location outside of a traditional office setting. Designers collaborate virtually using digital tools to ideate, prototype, test, and iterate on product concepts. This approach allows teams to work together from different geographic locations, often improving flexibility and access to diverse talent. Remote product designers typically use communication platforms, cloud-based design software, and project management tools to facilitate their workflow.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a remote product designer?

To thrive as a Remote Product Designer, you need expertise in UX/UI principles, a strong portfolio, and proficiency in design thinking and user research, typically supported by a degree in design or related field. Familiarity with tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, and collaboration platforms such as Miro or Slack is crucial. Exceptional communication, time management, and problem-solving skills help you stand out in remote, cross-functional teams. These abilities enable the creation of user-centered products while maintaining efficient collaboration and productivity from a distance.

How do remote product designers effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams?

Remote product designers typically use a combination of digital collaboration tools, such as Figma, Slack, and Zoom, to work closely with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders. Regular virtual meetings, clear documentation, and shared design systems help ensure everyone stays aligned on goals and project progress. Building strong communication habits and proactively seeking feedback are key to overcoming the challenges of distance and time zones in a remote setup. This collaborative approach fosters a sense of teamwork and helps remote designers contribute effectively to the product development process.

Job description

Lead Product Designer
This is a fully remote opportunity but is preferred to be worked from the Eastern timezone.
About Us
1mind is building the next generation of revenue teams.
We are creating a new category of enterprise software: Autonomous Customer Experience. Our platform deploys Superhumans, go-to-market teammates with a face, a voice, and a GTM brain that serve the buyer across the entire journey with one continuous memory. They engage, demo, onboard, and support in the moments no company could ever staff, so the handoffs disappear and growth stops leaking.
Join us as we define the category and build the platform that powers the next generation of revenue teams. When the buyer wins, the company wins. Every1 Wins.
About the Role
1mind is building Superhuman AI for GTM, AI agents that talk to buyers over voice and chat, reason across context, and take action across the customer journey. As Lead Product Designer, you'll help define how people interact with this new class of software across buyer-facing experiences, our Console, AI-assisted workflows, and the systems that connect them.
This is a hands-on senior IC role for a designer who loves making complex products feel simple. You'll work on problems that don't always have established interaction patterns yet: how a user understands what an AI agent is doing, how they guide or correct it, when the AI should act versus ask, how much control to expose, and how sophisticated configuration can feel approachable without losing power.
You'll partner closely with Product and Engineering from the earliest problem framing through shipped product. We expect designers here to talk directly to customers, prototype early, explore multiple directions quickly, and stay close to implementation. You'll have meaningful ownership over both the experience itself and the design patterns that make 1mind feel coherent as the product grows.
This is a fast-moving company and a high-ownership role. We're looking for someone who gets energy from that; a designer with strong product instincts, exceptional interaction and visual craft, and the judgment to know when to move quickly and when the details really matter.
What You'll Do
  • Own product design from problem framing through research, interaction design, high-fidelity UI, prototyping, implementation, and iteration
  • Design new interaction patterns for human-AI collaboration - helping users understand, guide, trust, and stay in control of increasingly autonomous software
  • Simplify complex workflows across configuration, integrations, multi-step workflows, system states, permissions, and other sophisticated B2B product experiences
  • Shape both buyer-facing experiences and the products our customers use to configure, deploy, understand, and manage their Superhumans
  • Partner closely with Product and Engineering to define the problem and solution together, rather than waiting for a finished brief or requirements document
  • Prototype early and often using Figma, AI prototyping tools, and code-based tools where useful to make ideas tangible and test interactions before investing heavily
  • Run customer conversations and usability sessions directly, observing how people actually use the product and turning those insights into better experiences
  • Move comfortably between systems-level thinking and detailed interaction and visual design - from the underlying product model to the final state, transition, copy, and polish
  • Stay involved through implementation and design QA so the quality of the shipped experience matches the intent
  • Evolve our design system and reusable interaction patterns as the product grows, creating consistency without slowing the team down
  • Use product data, customer feedback, and observed behavior to understand whether what we shipped actually made the experience better

What You'll Bring
  • 8+ years of product design experience, ideally with complex B2B SaaS or similarly sophisticated digital products
  • A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional interaction and visual design craft - not just strong process
  • Experience simplifying complex workflows, configuration-heavy products, admin experiences, workflow builders, data-rich interfaces, or other products with meaningful depth and state
  • Strong product judgment - able to participate in defining what should be built, not just how a predetermined feature should look
  • Comfort moving from ambiguous problem to concrete interaction model without needing every requirement defined upfront
  • Experience running your own usability research and talking directly with customers
  • Strong systems thinking, with the ability to see how individual workflows and screens fit into a broader product model
  • A bias toward prototyping and making ideas tangible early rather than relying only on static mocks or lengthy documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to carry a high craft bar through the final shipped experience
  • Comfort partnering deeply with engineers and understanding technical constraints well enough to make thoughtful design tradeoffs

Preferred
  • Experience designing AI-native or agentic products, especially experiences involving trust, control, automation, uncertainty, or human-AI collaboration
  • Prior experience at an early-stage or high-growth startup, comfortable moving with speed and ambiguity
  • Experience with complex enterprise software, workflow tools, integrations, or configurable platforms
  • Fluency with modern AI and code-based prototyping tools such as v0, Lovable, Figma Make, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools as part of your regular workflow
  • Experience evolving or contributing to a design system while actively shipping product
  • Background that includes exposure to revenue or go-to-market technology

Why Join Us
  • Help define the interaction language for a new category of software - how people work with AI agents that can reason, communicate, and act on their behalf
  • Own meaningful product problems across both customer-facing AI experiences and the tools used to configure and operate them
  • Work alongside a small, high-ownership product and engineering team during a rapid growth phase, with the ability to move from idea to shipped product quickly
  • Have real influence over the quality and character of the product while many of the most important design patterns are still being defined
  • Join at a stage where the product is real, customers are using it, and there is still enormous room to raise the bar and shape what great looks like
  • High visibility, high-impact role - with room to expand your scope as the company scales

The salary range for this position is $185,000 to $220,000. The compensation package for this position also includes stock options and company-paid benefits. 1mind's total compensation package is designed to be competitive and includes base salary, equity, and a full range of benefits and perks.
