Job description

Engineer of Record – Florida (Forensic + Civil Leadership Role)

Stratum House | Remote but within the state of Florida (Florida License Required)

Stratum House is expanding into Florida and seeking a senior-level Professional Engineer to serve as Engineer of Record and technical leader for the state platform.

This is a foundational leadership role designed for a forensic-minded engineer who also brings strong civil site development experience in multifamily and subdivision projects.

This position is remote, with Florida licensure required and periodic in-state meetings as needed.

We are building a disciplined, opinion-driven engineering platform focused on quality, documentation integrity, and scalable systems — not a volume-based design shop.

Primary Responsibilities

Forensic Leadership (Primary Emphasis)

  • Lead failure analysis investigations (wind, hail, water intrusion, fire, structural distress)
  • Prepare and review expert reports
  • Provide litigation support, rebuttals, depositions, and testimony
  • Enforce strict documentation standards (photo-log protocols, chain-of-custody, opinion gating)
  • Evaluate large-loss assignments with disciplined scope and client selection

Civil Engineering Oversight (Secondary but Critical)

  • Serve as Engineer of Record for:
    • Multifamily site development
    • Subdivision and commercial land development
  • Review, approve, and stamp plans
  • Standardize CAD workflows and QA/QC processes
  • Oversee due diligence and feasibility studies that convert to design engagements
  • Participate in construction administration when fee and risk profile are appropriate

Strategic & Operational Leadership

  • Set annual state-level priorities and margin targets with executive leadership
  • Lead quarterly planning and monthly financial reviews
  • Establish pricing standards and enforce minimum fee discipline
  • Maintain KPI scorecards and reporting standards
  • Recruit and mentor senior engineers and project managers

Qualifications

  • Active Florida PE license (required)
  • 10+ years progressive engineering experience
  • Strong forensic investigation experience preferred
  • Civil site development experience in multifamily and subdivisions required
  • Expert witness experience strongly preferred
  • Strong written report capability and courtroom composure
  • Financial literacy and operational discipline
  • High integrity and defensible professional judgment

Compensation

  • Performance Bonus tied to revenue and margin KPIs
  • Long-term retirement compensation structure for key leadership role
  • Remote flexibility with growth platform opportunity

Stratum House is building a high-discipline, defensible engineering practice designed for long-term enterprise value — balancing forensic integrity with repeatable civil development work.

If you are an experienced forensic engineer ready to help build and lead a Florida platform, we invite you to apply.
