Job description

The Manager of Technical Implementation oversees a software engineering team providing leadership to technical design and delivery for cloud-based software applications and building flexible services-based architecture. This position will be responsible for successfully leading end-to-end technical implementation for new clients, overseeing onboarding, system configuration, and delivery of custom enhancements to meet business and operational requirements. The Manager of Technical Implementation will lead a team in providing administration, application development, application support, and technical support by using best practice programming techniques to configure robust solutions for NorthWinds customers utilizing one, several or many tools and product platforms. In general, technical leaders at NorthWinds must build strong teams and strong team members through coaching and building skills, knowledge, and best practices. Managers are expected to build a positive, collaborative environment in their teams, across teams at NorthWinds, and with diverse client teams.

In this role, you would: 

  • Lead as primary bridge between clients, business stockholders, and engineering teams to ensure successful, on-time implementation.
  • Lead technical discussions with business and technical decision makers, including assisting and reviewing detailed technical specifications, implementation roadmaps, deployment, and third-party integrations.
  • Lead out with estimations, resource allocation, and mentoring.
  • Evaluate, manage, and update team procedures and standards.
  • Ensure that solutions can be supported by tier 1 and tier 2 teams via documentation, runbooks, logging, monitoring, and tooling.
  • Create and maintain a culture and practice of fast, frequent feedback from stakeholders to ensure product fit
  • Create and maintain a culture and practice quality and testing at all levels, with a focus on automation, defect prevention, and long-term stability.
  • Partner with product engineering and system reliability teams to define product stability and roadmap.
  • Develop and maintain implementation documentation, runbooks, and client-facing technical artifacts.
  • Use AI tools to enhance existing process, documentation and support culture of AI tool adoption.
  • Accountable for people management across this team (career conversations, performance management, compensation management, roles & responsibilities, staffing levels, talent development/training, succession planning).
  • Championing a culture of automation, observability, resilience, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead by developing team goals and objectives in support of NorthWinds Technology Solutions’ mission.
  • Recommends department budget, analyses and contributes to successful results.
  • Ensure that systems are designed and built with appropriate levels of protection for business continuity, security, and data privacy
  • Provide regular status updates to internal leadership and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and accountability
  • Accountable for people management (recruiting, coaching & professional development, performance management, compensation management, roles & responsibilities, staffing levels, and knowledge transfer & sharing)
  • Set and adjust department, goals and objectives in support of NorthWinds Technology Solutions’ mission and vision
