Medical Billing Follow-Up Associate

Duration: 13-Week Contract
Location: California or PST Time Zone Only (Remote)
Pay: $29-$31/hour DOE

Position Overview

The Medical Billing Follow-Up Associate is responsible for managing outstanding patient accounts, following up on unpaid balances, resolving billing discrepancies, working with insurance carriers, and ensuring timely collections while maintaining HIPAA compliance. This role supports revenue cycle operations and requires strong experience with patient billing, collections, and payer follow-up.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED required

  • Associate’s degree or Technical Degree preferred

  • Medical billing and collections experience

  • Experience working with unpaid accounts and accounts receivable follow-up

  • Experience calculating write-offs and adjustments

  • Knowledge of payer follow-up and claims resolution

  • Experience with:

  • Commercial insurance

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS)

  • Government payers (Medicare/Medicaid)

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow up on outstanding patient balances and AR accounts

  • Contact patients regarding unpaid balances

  • Explain billing statements and insurance coverage

  • Resolve billing discrepancies and account issues

  • Verify claim and payment status with insurance carriers

  • Process payments and establish payment plans

  • Document account activity accurately in billing systems

  • Escalate complex billing issues when necessary

Pay Details: $29.00 to $31.00 per hour
