We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator role with one of our clients.
Role: Senior PostgreSQL Database Administrator
Location : Remote (Mexico)
 
Position Overview
In this role, you will take co-ownership of PostgreSQL infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance,
security, and reliability. You will work closely with development teams to design scalable database solutions
and manage production environments in AWS RDS.
 
Required Skills & Experience
Database Design & Management
• Strong knowledge of data design principles and schema management
• Expertise in database normalization, indexing strategies, and query optimization
• Ability to design and maintain logical and physical database architecture
• Proficiency in creating and maintaining Entity-Relationship Diagrams (ERDs)
 
PostgreSQL Administration & Performance
• 5+ years of hands-on PostgreSQL administration in production environments
• Proficiency in PostgreSQL tuning and performance optimization
• Expertise in maintaining PostgreSQL on AWS RDS, including parameter groups and configuration
• Strong understanding of query execution plans, indexing, and SQL optimization
 
Security & Compliance
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL security management (authentication, authorization, encryption)
• Experience with IAM integration and access control policies
• Understanding of audit logging and compliance requirements
 
Backup, Recovery & Disaster Recovery
• Expertise in backup strategies and point-in-time recovery (PITR)
• Experience designing and testing disaster recovery plans
• Proficiency with AWS RDS backup and snapshot management
Data Management & Migration
• Ability to understand and document data flow within database systems
• Proficiency with loading, transforming, and moving data between database environments
• Experience with ETL processes and data migration strategies
 
SQL & Application Development Knowledge

Monitoring, Alerting & Incident Response
• Experience with CloudWatch and AWS RDS monitoring tools

• Strong troubleshooting skills for production issues
• Experience with on-call support and SLA management

• Capacity planning and resource optimization expertise

• Ability to work independently and manage database architecture decisions
 
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Experience with high availability and streaming replication setups
