Job Description:

Greif is seeking an Outside Sales Representative to drive growth within our Small Plastics Manufacturing business, with a strong focus on portable fuel container sales. This role is responsible for managing existing customer relationships, developing new business opportunities, and delivering revenue growth across a defined territory.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated sales professional who thrives in a customer-facing environment, understands value-based selling, and can effectively balance account management, business development, and cross-functional collaboration to achieve commercial objectives.

Although this is a remote opportunity, the selected candidate must reside within or near the Murray, Kentucky territory to effectively manage customer accounts and travel throughout the assigned region.

What You'll Do

As an Outside Sales Representative, you will own a defined territory and be responsible for growing revenue, volume, and profitability through strategic account management and disciplined sales execution. You will serve as a trusted partner to customers while collaborating closely with internal teams to ensure exceptional customer experiences and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own a defined sales territory and deliver revenue, volume, and margin objectives through effective opportunity management.
  • Maintain and grow existing customer relationships while identifying and developing new business opportunities.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans for key customers, aligning internal and external stakeholders around growth initiatives.
  • Create, solicit, and present customer price quotations and proposals.
  • Qualify opportunities, prepare customer agreements, and negotiate commercial terms that support profitable growth.
  • Execute re-pricing actions for underperforming accounts when necessary to improve account profitability.
  • Forecast monthly and quarterly sales results with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Monitor product mix, customer demand, and capacity considerations to proactively manage business performance.
  • Coordinate customer visits, plant tours, product trials, and technical consultations to support business development efforts.
  • Collaborate with Inside Sales, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Operations, and Marketing teams to ensure excellent customer service and execution.
  • Utilize CRM systems to manage sales pipelines, monitor opportunities, assess risks, and maintain accurate customer data.
  • Address customer service, quality, or delivery concerns and coordinate corrective actions with appropriate cross-functional teams.
  • Build relationships across customer organizations, including purchasing, operations, engineering, and leadership teams.
  • Support and promote safety, compliance, and ethical business practices in all customer and internal interactions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Typically requires 4-8 years of relevant sales, account management, or business development experience.
  • Demonstrated success managing customer relationships and growing business within a defined territory.
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience preparing pricing proposals, negotiating agreements, and managing account profitability.
  • Proven ability to prospect, qualify opportunities, and close business.
  • Experience utilizing CRM platforms and sales forecasting tools.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and customer needs effectively.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% within the assigned territory.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in HDPE blow molding of rigid containers highly preferred.
  • Experience selling portable fuel containers within the retail industry highly preferred.
  • Manufacturing, industrial, plastics, or packaging industry sales experience preferred.

Total Target Compensation Range: The total target compensation range for this position, including sales incentives, is $125,100 - $200,200. Typically, a competitive range for new hires will fall between $130,000 - $160,000. Offers for this position may vary based on market data and other factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The position is eligible for participation in the company's sales compensation plan
