Remote Point Cloud Modeling information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote Point Cloud Modeler, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Remote Point Cloud Modeler, you need expertise in 3D modeling, spatial data interpretation, and proficiency with point cloud processing, often supported by a degree in geomatics, engineering, or architecture. Familiarity with technical tools such as Autodesk ReCap, Bentley Pointools, and laser scanning equipment, as well as certifications in CAD or BIM, are typically required. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and effective communication skills distinguish top performers in this role. These skills ensure accurate digital representations, efficient project collaboration, and high-quality deliverables critical for industries like construction, surveying, and design.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in remote point cloud modeling, and how can they be addressed?

One common challenge in remote point cloud modeling is managing large data files, which can cause slow upload/download speeds and software lag. Ensuring a reliable internet connection and using cloud-based collaboration tools can help mitigate these issues. Additionally, clear communication with team members is crucial, as remote work can sometimes lead to misunderstandings about project specifications or deadlines. Regular virtual meetings and detailed documentation can help keep everyone aligned and projects on track.

What is remote point cloud modeling?

Remote point cloud modeling involves creating 3D digital representations of objects or spaces using point cloud data, which is typically collected through laser scanners or photogrammetry. The 'remote' aspect means that the modeling work is performed from a location other than the site where the data was captured, often using specialized software to process and interpret the data. This technology is widely used in industries such as construction, architecture, surveying, and engineering for tasks like as-built documentation, measurement, and visualization. Remote point cloud modelers convert raw point cloud data into usable models, such as BIM or CAD files, that are valuable for planning, analysis, and project management.

Job description

About the Company

Citrix is the recognized leader in VDI, Desktop-as-a-Service and application delivery solutions that empowers enterprises of all sizes and industries to enable secure hybrid and remote working, from anywhere, using any device. Our platform delivers high-performance user experience, Zero Trust security and operational cost efficiency regardless whether customers require cloud, on-premises or hybrid deployment. We foster a culture of innovation, diversity, and continuous learning, making this an exciting time to be part of our transformation journey.. By joining our team, you'll have the opportunity to build cutting-edge solutions for 100 million people worldwide to securely access their desktops, applications and SaaS and web apps.

About the Team:

The Citrix Secure Private Access team is a product engineering unit responsible for the design, development, and evolution of foundational cloud software platforms that power the Citrix ecosystem. We build large-scale distributed systems that set the technical backbone for security, reliability, performance, compliance, and cost efficiency across our services. Our engineers work on complex system design problems, core feature development, scalability challenges, and platform modernization initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and development of new capabilities and complex systems using cloud native frameworks.

  • Developing and deploying containerized applications using Kubernetes (AKS, EKS or GKE)

  • Implement and manage cloud services and infrastructure within the Microsoft-Azure, AWS and/or GCP platforms, focusing on scalability, and resiliency.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system design documents, API specifications.

  • Demonstrate success dealing with ambiguous "unsolved" problems; and the ability to independently make solid progress, requiring deep technical skills and the ability to quickly adapt to new areas.

  • Implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure 99.9% uptime and proactive issue resolution

  • Build software with observability by design, using tools like Splunk, Grafana, Azure Application Insights, and Log Analytics to drive diagnosis for performance bottlenecks, and to troubleshoot production issues.

  • Participate in on-call rotations with your team. Triage and respond to critical production issues and advocate for opportunities to improve service health, stability, and reliability.

  • Embed security best practices into the platform, including identity management (IAM), encryption, and compliance auditing

  • Implement automated testing, fault-tolerance patterns, and self-healing mechanisms aligned with Chaos Engineering principles.

  • Use data-driven approaches to optimize scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency at the software-architecture level.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define requirements, estimate work, and deliver high-quality solutions on time.

  • Serve as a technical expert and resource for mid-level engineers, providing mentorship and guidance.

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • 5+ years of deep experience with a major provider (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).

  • Expert-level knowledge in containerization with Kubernetes (K8s) orchestration, Docker, and service meshes (like Istio).

  • Proficiency in at least one backend language used for tooling and automation (Python, Go, or Rust).

  • Advanced experience with Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.

  • Solid Networking knowledge (TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, load balancing, firewalls) relevant to troubleshooting cloud-native applications.

Core Technical Skills

  • Expert proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and the .NET ecosystem (C# and .NET Core/.NET Framework).

  • Deep experience in designing, building, and deploying highly available Microservices and REST APIs.

  • Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure/AWS services.

  • Practical experience with system monitoring, logging, and performance analysis using tools like Splunk, Grafana etc. .

  • Familiarity with PowerShell, and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Hands-on experience with AI platforms and frameworks is a strong plus:

    • Azure AI Foundry / OpenAI / Responses API

    • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)

    • Agentic AI frameworks: LangGraph, LangFuse, Microsoft Agent Framework (AI Agents, Workflows)

    • AI Cognitive Search

    • Model Context Protocol (MCP)

    • AI Gateway

Experience & Education

  • Experience: Minimum 7 years in Cloud development & engineering or DevOps roles.

  • Education: Bachelor's or Masters in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Certifications (Preferred): AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, Google Professional Cloud Architect, or CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator).
