Job Description

RESPEC is seeking an experienced Software Quality Assurance Tester to support a Texas state government client.  The QA Engineer Automated 2 will support the Learning Acceleration Support Opportunities (LASO) IT Qualtrics application at the Texas Education Agency. This role will help ensure that critical applications and workflows function accurately, securely, accessibly, and reliably for users across Texas education programs.

The successful candidate will work closely with developers, business stakeholders, and customers to analyze requirements, build comprehensive test strategies, automate functional and regression testing, validate data, and communicate results clearly. The position requires strong experience with Java-based automation, TestNG, Playwright, SQL, workflow-driven testing, and performance testing tools.

Core Responsibilities

  • The QA Engineer will analyze user requirements, design documentation, and related materials to create detailed test cases and testing scenarios. The role will include developing and executing automated functional and regression tests, documenting test results, reporting defects, and preparing testing summaries.
  • This professional will also perform manual testing and data validation, write SQL queries to analyze and manipulate data, and collaborate with development teams and customers to understand application functionality and define effective automation solutions. Additional responsibilities include performance testing, accessibility testing, test documentation, and clear communication of risks, issues, and outcomes to project stakeholders.
Qualifications

Required Technical Experience

Candidates must meet or exceed all of the following minimum experience requirements:

7+ years testing complex web applications

6+ years of test automation using Java and TestNG

5+ years of advanced SQL experience

4+ years of experience with Playwright

4+ years of experience with workflow-driven automation

4+ years of experience using JMeter, WAPT Pro, or another load-testing tool

3+ years of experience using or applying GitHub Copilot skills

Preferred Qualifications

The following experience is preferred:

2+ years of experience with Zypher Scale

2+ years of experience with Jira

2+ years working with Texas state government agencies or Texas school systems

2+ years working with grants or in-kind programs
