Job description

RINA is currently recruiting for a Project Engineer: Highway / Roadway to join its office in Cleveland or Columbus, OH within the Civil Engineering Division.

We're seeking a Project Engineer who is passionate about transportation engineering and eager to play a hands-on role in project execution. In this role, you'll support the planning, calculation, and design of a variety of engineering projects-analyzing technical data, developing detailed engineering designs and drawings, and ensuring high-quality technical deliverables for our clients .Project types include highways, local roadways, sewer and water main designs, pedestrian facilities, trails, etc. for state, county, and local agencies. Additional work experience is possible with our out-of-state teams' projects.


As a Project Engineer, you may provide technical oversight for Staff Engineers, Engineers, Designers, and Drafters-delegating tasks and supporting their growth. You'll work closely with the Project Manager and serve as a central link between internal team members and external stakeholders, ensuring everyone has the information they need to succeed. You'll also have opportunities to join project managers on client meetings and site visits, contribute to proposal development (including RFP responses), help define project scopes and deliverables, and assist in monitoring schedules and budgets.

Key Accountabilities
  • Responsible for designs, CAD drawings, and specifications on assigned projects, under the guidance/direction of Project Manager
  • Works with other engineers on a project team, maintaining effective communication with project team members, other departments, suppliers, and clients
  • Coordinates with drafters, designers, and staff engineers within project team
  • Completes drawings/project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Reviews drawings for completeness, accuracy, and constructability.
  • Develops conceptual and basic engineering documents including studies, design criteria, equipment specifications, etc.
  • Utilizes computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
  • Observes safety and security procedures
Qualifications
  • BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution 
  • 4+ years of experience in design engineering, preferably on ODOT or other roadway transportation projects
  • Professional Engineering License (PE) in Ohio
  • Proficiency in MicroStation Open Roads Design
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and coordinate with others on larger, multidiscipline projects.
  • Proficiency in standard engineering procedures and project management methodologies and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of computer-aided design software and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering required (i.e., AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

  • Local or regional travel (i.e. job sites) anticipated based upon business need
