Job description

About Wolf Games

Wolf Games is building the platform for generative entertainment universes living, ever-expanding worlds where creators, players, and AI collaborate in real time. Our first universe, Public Eye, turns everyone into a detective. Across a suite of crime-solving games, players collect evidence, crack cases, and rise through the ranks of a connected detective program. We're creating a future where game development and player experience are tightly connected through intelligent systems that learn, adapt, and surprise.

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer with deep experience building HTML5 playable ads someone who understands how to deliver polished, high-performing game experiences within the strict constraints of ad platforms.

This is a hands-on role for an engineer who can own the full lifecycle of playable ads: from rapid prototyping to production-ready builds that perform across devices, browsers, and ad networks.

You'll work at the intersection of game development, performance engineering, and growth, building experiences that are fast, lightweight, and highly engaging within seconds.

Note: Experience with playable ads and mobile HTML5 game environments is required for this role.

You will report to the Director of Engineering and work closely with engineering, design, and creative leadership to:

  • Build and ship HTML5 playable ads using frameworks like Pixi.js, Phaser, Three.js, or custom WebGL solutions.
  • Optimize games for strict ad platform constraints, including file size limits, load time requirements, sandbox restrictions, and clickthrough behavior.
  • Ensure high performance across mobile browsers (iOS Safari, Android Chrome).
  • Architect reusable patterns and lightweight systems for rapid playable ad iteration.
  • Collaborate with design and product teams to translate concepts into high-converting interactive experiences.
  • Implement analytics and event tracking to measure engagement and conversion performance.
  • Debug and resolve issues related to rendering (Canvas/WebGL), input/touch handling, device compatibility, and performance bottlenecks
  • Iterate quickly on builds based on performance data and creative feedback.
  • Integrate playable ads with ad network SDKs and platform requirements (Meta, Google, TikTok, Unity, etc.)
  • Maintain a high bar for polish, responsiveness, and user experience in short-session gameplay.
What you'll bring
  • Strong experience building and shipping HTML5 playable ads.
  • 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on web-based games or interactive ad units.
  • Deep proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and modern web game frameworks (Pixi.js, Phaser, Three.js).
  • Strong understanding of mobile browser performance constraints, memory management and optimization, and responsive layouts across devices.
  • Experience working within ad network specifications and limitations.
  • Proven ability to optimize for load time, file size, and runtime performance.
  • Experience integrating analytics or tracking systems to evaluate ad performance.
  • Strong debugging skills across browsers and devices.
  • Ability to move quickly and iterate in a fast-paced, test-and-learn environment.
  • Clear communication and ownership mindset you can take a playable from concept to shipped product.
Nice to have
  • Experience working directly with growth or marketing teams on playable ads.
  • Familiarity with A/B testing and performance-driven iteration.
  • Experience building internal tooling or pipelines for playable ad production.
  • Background in game design or strong intuition for player engagement.
  • Exposure to lightweight automation or build pipelines for asset optimization.
Why Wolf Games

We are a small, creative, and collaborative team that values curiosity, craftsmanship, and experimentation. We believe small wins lead to big wins and that senior engineers who combine technical excellence with leadership and mentorship are the foundation of great teams. If you're ready to shape both the technology and the culture of a new kind of game studio, we'd love to hear from you.
