What is a remote perfumer?

A remote perfumer is a fragrance expert who creates and develops scents while working from a location outside a traditional laboratory or office, often from home. They use their knowledge of aromatic ingredients and olfactory science to formulate perfumes for various products, such as personal fragrances, cosmetics, or household items. Remote perfumers collaborate with clients, brands, and suppliers virtually, using specialized software and sometimes shipping scent samples for evaluation. This role combines creativity, chemistry, and communication skills, and typically requires access to a well-equipped home laboratory or studio.
