What is a Remote PDM Engineer?

A Remote PDM Engineer is a professional who specializes in Product Data Management (PDM) systems and supports their implementation, maintenance, and optimization from a remote location. They help organizations manage product-related data, such as design documents, CAD files, and engineering change orders, ensuring data integrity and efficient workflow processes. Remote PDM Engineers often collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline product development, troubleshoot issues, and customize PDM solutions to meet business needs. Their remote role allows them to work effectively with distributed teams and leverage cloud-based PDM tools.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Remote PDM Engineer?

To thrive as a Remote PDM Engineer, you need a solid background in product data management, engineering principles, and experience with configuration management, often supported by a degree in engineering or a related field. Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems such as Siemens Teamcenter, Dassault ENOVIA, or Autodesk Vault, and certifications in these platforms, are typically important. Strong problem-solving skills, self-motivation, and effective remote communication are critical soft skills for collaborating with global teams. These skills ensure accurate product data control, efficient workflow management, and seamless collaboration across distributed engineering teams.

How does a Remote PDM Engineer typically collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective product data management?

As a Remote PDM Engineer, collaboration with cross-functional teams such as design, engineering, manufacturing, and IT is essential for maintaining accurate and accessible product data. Job description

At Accenture Federal Services, nothing matters more than helping the US federal government make the nation stronger and safer and life better for people. Our 13,000+ people are united in a shared purpose to pursue the limitless potential of technology and ingenuity for clients across defense, national security, public safety, civilian, and military health organizations.

Join Accenture Federal Services, a technology company within global Accenture. Recognized as a Glassdoor Top 100 Best Place to Work, we offer a collaborative and caring community where you feel like you belong and are empowered to grow, learn and thrive through hands-on experience, certifications, industry training and more.

Join us to drive positive, lasting change that moves missions and the government forward!

You Are:

Accenture Federal Services is seeking a Digital Engineering Lead to lead an up-conversion team on a modernization program for a major aerospace & defense manufacturer. The program converts legacy, drawing-centric technical data packages into fully annotated, model-authoritative definitions and releases them into the client's PLM system.

The lead defines the conversion approach and sets the quality standard, creating the standards, templates, automation, and quality gates that the design and validation engineers work to, and serving as the senior technical point of contact to the client's program leadership. The role also structures the delivery team as a capability pyramid: a small core of model-based experts, a larger group of designers, and a dedicated quality function.

Preferred Candidate Location: San Antonio, TX

The Work:

  • Define and maintain the MBD authoring standard: start-part and start-assembly templates, metadata schema, automated model-check configuration, and annotation conventions aligned to ASME Y14.5 and Y14.41.
  • Set the neutral-derivative and automated-analysis strategy, for example STEP AP242, QIF, manufacturing/DFM analysis, and 3D PDF, including naming conventions and how those outputs are generated and attached at release.
  • Define the PLM release path: the engineering change process, part-to-CAD linkage, and CAD BOM to EBOM alignment.
  • Stand up the electrical and harness side in parallel using Zuken E3.series, including library content, data management (DS-E3/PDM), and harness design rules, so cable and harness work converts on the same standard as mechanical parts.
  • Own the quality gate and the digital-thread and configuration approach: semantic equivalence to the source drawing, a clear authoritative-source policy, machine-readable PMI rather than graphical-only annotation, and traceability from the engineering definition to released hardware.
  • Run delivery: kickoff, an integrated master schedule with regular updates, technical and schedule reviews, risk and deviation management, and a continuous process-improvement loop with the client.
  • Support planning and estimation for scaling the conversion effort.
  • Coach the design and validation engineers on the toolset and the model-based process, and develop the team's expertise over time.

Here's What You Need:

  • 10+ years in digital or model-based engineering, with hands-on MBD in PTC Creo and/or electrical model-based definition in Zuken E3.series, plus PLM such as Windchill. Depth in one discipline with working knowledge of the other is expected; breadth across both (electromechanical) is preferred.
  • A track record of owning MBD/MBE standards, templates, and automation at program or enterprise scale.
  • Strong command of GD&T and model-based definition under ASME Y14.5 and Y14.41.
  • Experience implementing the digital thread and configuration management across engineering, manufacturing, and quality.
  • Experience leading technical delivery teams and working directly with client leadership.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Zuken E3.series and DS-E3/PDM administration or standards work.
  • Neutral-exchange standards (STEP AP242, QIF) and tools such as Capvidia MBDConnect.
  • Aerospace & defense experience, especially in a Creo and Windchill environment.
  • DoD Technical Data Package (TDP) experience and familiarity with model-based hardware release.
  • PMP or a comparable delivery-management credential.
