Job description

Job Order: *Pharmacy Tech

Start date: 06/15/26
Work Location: Remote (anywhere in the U.S.) — must be able to work Central Time (CST) hours
Employment Type: W2 contract (Contract-to-hire)
Pay Rate: $20.00/hour
Schedule: 40 hours/week (standard 8.5-hour workday)

The Pharmacy Technician I (Prior Authorization) takes inbound calls from providers, pharmacies, members, etc., and provides professional, courteous assistance through a criteria-based prior authorization process. You will document interactions accurately and escalate clinical/judgment questions to the pharmacist team.

You'll also assist with additional workflow needs such as outbound calls, processing prior authorizations received via fax/ePA, and responding to inquiries through department mailboxes.

Training & Schedule Details (CST Required)

  • Training (mandatory / no time off permitted): 06/15/2026 – 08/04/2026, Mon–Fri, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CST
  • After training: Permanent schedule is determined by business needs; role follows a standard 8.5-hour day
  • Candidates must be comfortable working CST working hours while living anywhere in the U.S.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle high-volume inbound calls and provide accurate prior authorization support
  • Maintain complete, timely, accurate documentation
  • Transfer clinical questions/escalations to the pharmacist team
  • Support additional tasks: outbound calls, fax/ePA processing, mailbox monitoring
  • Navigate multiple systems while completing data entry efficiently

Required Qualifications

  • Active Pharmacy Technician license (no restrictions) OR national pharmacy technician certification (or state registration/certification/licensure per state regulations)
  • Strong customer service skills (verbal and written)
  • Advanced computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets); comfort working across multiple applications
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and coding (preferred/expected)

Experience

  • Prior authorization / PBM experience preferred
  • High-volume call center experience strongly preferred (job notes emphasize 2+ years as ideal—please make this clear on the resume if applicable)

Remote Work Requirements (Must Have)

  • A HIPAA-compliant, distraction-free workspace (separate area, no interruptions)
  • Wired internet meeting 25 Mbps download / 3 Mbps upload minimum
  • Ability to sit and stay focused for the full shift without interruptions
