What is remote patient monitoring?
A Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) job involves using technology to track patients' health data outside traditional healthcare settings, such as at home. Professionals in this role collect and analyze data from devices like blood pressure monitors, glucose meters, and wearables to help healthcare providers make informed decisions. RPM jobs can include roles like nurses, care coordinators, or technicians who support patients in using these devices and interpreting their data. The goal is to enhance patient outcomes, reduce hospital visits, and provide proactive healthcare. Many RPM jobs are remote and involve digital communication with patients.
What does a remote patient monitoring professional do?
Remote Patient Monitoring professionals are responsible for reviewing and analyzing patient health data collected via digital devices, identifying potential concerns, and escalating issues to appropriate healthcare providers. Their day often includes regular virtual check-ins with patients to assess symptoms, provide education, and address questions or concerns. They collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and care coordinators to develop and adjust patient care plans. By proactively monitoring and communicating, they play a key role in improving patient outcomes and reducing hospital readmissions.
What are the key skills and qualifications needed for remote patient monitoring?
To excel in Remote Patient Monitoring, candidates typically need a clinical background such as nursing or allied health, experience with patient assessment, and strong analytical abilities. Familiarity with telehealth platforms, remote monitoring systems, and EHR software is often required, and certifications in telemedicine or chronic care management are beneficial. Job description
Why ADN? Join the American Data Network family and become part of an established, purpose-driven healthcare quality organization with more than 30 years of experience. At ADN, our work supports hospitals and healthcare clients in improving quality, patient safety, and clinical outcomes. We value integrity, accuracy, collaboration, and professionalism, and we are looking for experienced abstractors who take pride in producing high-quality work.
Position Summary: American Data Network is seeking experienced GWTG STK/CSTK Abstractors to support accurate and timely stroke registry abstraction for assigned healthcare clients. This role is ideal for candidates with recent, hands-on GWTG STK and/or CSTK abstraction experience who can independently review clinical documentation, apply registry specifications, and meet assigned deadlines with a high level of accuracy.
This is not a general data entry position. Candidates must have direct healthcare quality reporting, clinical chart review, or data abstraction experience specific to GWTG STK and/or CSTK.
Position Details: ADN hires both contractors and full-time employees for Data Abstraction roles. Contractors must be available for a minimum of 15 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collects and abstracts data from patient medical records, especially those related to stroke care. This includes information on diagnoses, treatments, procedures, and outcomes.
- Ensures the accuracy and completeness of the abstracted data. This involves cross-referencing information from multiple sources within a patient's medical record.
- Adheres to specific clinical data abstraction guidelines and standards, such as those set by the American Heart Association.
- Enters the abstracted data into a database or registry, often using specialized software. This includes maintaining and updating the data as necessary.
- Participates in quality assurance processes to ensure data integrity. This involves regular audits of the data or the abstraction process.
- Remains informed about developments in stroke care and data management to ensure ongoing competency in the role.
Qualifications:
Required:
- At least 2 years of recent GWTG STK and/or CSTK abstraction experience.
- Ability to independently abstract GWTG STK and/or CSTK cases using registry specifications and clinical documentation.
- Strong understanding of healthcare quality reporting, registry abstraction, clinical documentation review, and medical record interpretation.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, documentation, and follow-through.
- Comfort working in multiple EHRs, registry platforms, vendor tools, and data collection systems as assigned.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- Contractors must have high-speed secure internet, a PC or laptop, and at least two monitors.
Preferred:
- Experience using the GWTG registry platform, CSTK abstraction tools, vendor platforms, quality reporting system, and /or related data collection tools.
- Experience with IRR, QA review, audit validation, and/or abstraction accuracy review.
Screening & Onboarding:
Qualified candidates will complete an initial phone screen and a GWTG STK/CSTK-specific abstraction assessment. The assessment is designed to evaluate understanding of registry specifications, abstraction judgment, accuracy, and completion speed.
ADN does not provide basic GWTG STK/CSTK abstraction training, so candidates should already have the abstraction experience needed for the role. After hire, ADN provides onboarding to ADN processes, client systems, EHR access, documentation tendencies, and other client-specific workflows.
Why This Role May Be a Good Fit: This position may be a strong fit for experienced GWTG STK/CSTK abstractors who enjoy independent work, flexible scheduling, stroke registry chart review, healthcare quality reporting, and contributing to meaningful work that supports hospitals and patient care. ADN offers a knowledgeable and supportive team environment, multiple abstraction opportunities, and potential growth into lead or expanded quality roles for strong performers.
