Job description

About Us: ATTIC stands for "Alternatives to Traditional Incarceration of Citizens." We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to developing interventions that enable individuals to avoid unnecessary levels of incarceration, enhance community safety and provide a setting that facilitates treatment and the reduction of recidivism. We operate residential and other correctional programs throughout Wisconsin that provide case management, counseling and treatment groups, vocational training and high-risk client monitoring and supervision.
Position Overview:
We are recruiting for a SUD/Group Counselor in the Marinette region, responsible for providing substance abuse counseling and group facilitation to adult correctional clients in individual or group settings.
This is a part-time position requiring approximately 15-20 hours per week, fully remote but will require Wisconsin residency
Primary Job Duties:
  • Completes intake and orientation materials for newly admitted clients.
  • Facilitates treatment group sessions, using the approved curriculum provided. This will include SUD treatment, Co-Occurring Disorders, Cognitive Behavioral Interventions and Trauma-Informed Care.
  • Completes UPC and AODA assessments as well as counseling
  • Evaluates and documents client participation by monitoring behavior, attitude, and progress.
  • Cognitive behavioral methodology/assessment
  • Maintains accurate records and files of progress, services provided, treatment plans, and other required information.
  • Develops, implements, and periodically reviews and updates client treatment plans in collaboration with each client.
  • Recommends referrals to other community services/agencies as needed.
  • Maintains ongoing verbal and written communication with all co-workers and DOC regarding client behaviors, treatment progress and incident reports

Education & Work Experience:
  • Associate's degree in human services, Criminal Justice, or related field. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Substance Abuse Counselor (SAC-IT, SAC, or CSAC) credentials through the state of WI, or equivalent.
  • One year's experience working with correctional/AODA clients.
  • Prior experience in a residential or treatment center utilizing group facilitation and cognitive behavioral methodology preferred.
  • Cognitive based programming preferred
  • Knowledge and use of Motivational Interviewing techniques.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to interactions with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Ability to interact with staff and clients in an effective manner while maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Self-motivated; ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • High level organizational and planning skills.
  • Experience in recordkeeping.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Demonstrated initiative and flexibility.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products, email, and internet.
